What about Rocket Rod instead of Shipperely? I wasn't aware that he was available until he played on the weekend (at least that's according to the Reds twitter).

Well either way, Ant Fainga'a has to be starting! I actually prefer him at 13 simply because I think that's where he is best utilized defensively. He reads the game very well and makes important tackles in that wider attacking channel. In attack however, much better at 12 as a straight ball...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I think a better comparison would be the NQ Fury and Gold Coast Unitied A-League. League has always had a strong foothold in NQ, where Union (and soccer) have a lot less of a market. Even with big financial backing, player personnel and bums on seats for the country teams would be a disaster...

A Queensland country and a greater Brisbane? That country team will be weak. From a Queensland perspective this set up looks shit, as the greater Brisbane team will just be Reds and WTS players, giving Premier players little chance to play.

I really only see Harris as a 12. Too one dimensional to be a 10 and too slow to be a 15. I think he gets a hard wrap though, his appearances for the Wallabies last year were actually pretty decent, but most seem to discard him. I wouldn't have him starting (Taps, Fainga'a and CFS ahead of...

Great idea! I'd get into that,I'm usually the same type who's butt leaves his seat almost everytime something happens haha

I watched Jonah all season, and he is a great talent, but still has a long way to go. His decision making on kick returns is one area I picked out that he needs work. When Toua was out, and Jonah played at 15, sometimes he panicked and took contact or tried to run around the defence, in...

Anyone got any info on the NRC expressions of interest? Apparently, the QRU's persistance to get as much money as possible (ie: Junior Gold fees and registration) has put off a lot of clubs. Apparently a meeting between some of the key heads at Sunnybank, Easts, Brothers, Souths and GPS is...

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Apart from Vuniopola, none of those other players are that impressive. Burgess as a 6/8 would be pretty interesting.

What do you make of Benji Marshal to rugby?

Don't know where this fits, but seeing this is a league-union convert thread, Sam Burgess is going to try and make the England 2015 WC union team.

Care to name a few? We will be decimated at some points of the season with rep commitments, would be good to have some reliable players to come into the side.

Would love to have a list somewhere of who is in the QLD U20 and QLD A Squads. Can anyone help?

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Good chance at least one of them will be linked with the Wallabies, or recovering from injury, as has been the trend over the past few seasons. Edit: Fainga'a is linked with GPS anyway.

Hugh Pyle 40+ caps? That's impressive....still so underrated. You forget how many games the young guys like Gilly, Shatz and Hanson have played.

http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3551_9130475,00.html Why on earth would we need Simmons as a 6 at any point?. We have Quirk, Browning and McDuling as options. Keep Simmo in the row RG, punt on one of the youngsters even if there is an injury.

Hmmm I'd seen Ged captain them a few times, so that's why I automatically thought he was. TD, I honestly have never rated Beauchamp. Apart from his ability in the line out, I think he is severely overrated. Very soft ball runner, doesn't make much impact in the tackle, and whilst his pilfering...

So you're saying 18- O'Donoghue 19- Browning It's a tough one. I think O'Donghue did his job very well last year, but I think McDuling offers a bit more. It's a good problem to have, as it is with our backline. No problems with several players competing for spots.
