I disagree completely. His actions make him the poster child for how not to deal with that sort of situation. All he has done is burned his bridges and hardened the resolve of the Wallaby players against him. His actions aren't what leads to change. They're instead going to make the Wallabies and the ARU bunker down and avoid making any decisions that might vindicate Cooper's comments.

Braveheart - what are you completely disagreeing with;
His form in 2011 when Reds one the tittle and he signed the one year contract?
Alot of the participants on the forum are frusted with the Wallabies?
What or how he said what he said was wrong, it possibly could have been commincated differently?

I never commended him for what and how he said it, hindsight, and then he kept digging. I think coaches and managers should also take responsability (maybe wrong word / control) for what occured, instead he's been isolated. The guy has talent, I'd hate to see him leave rugby.

Specifically, this:

Hearing a bad word - he is sharing the same frustrations as the supporters, here we are sitting at desks passing comments about the Wallabies, and he comes out and says what we think. Agree, it could have been delivered differently, I'm putting that down to maturity. But shit, good on him for being concerned about the brand of crap we are currently playing.

I disagree with every public comment he has made in his fight with the ARU. He is not in a position to make those sort of comments publically.

Yes and no. We are a fickle bunch and we get over things very quickly these days. As soon as the next controversy rears its head we focus our attention on it. We may be witnessing the end of QC (Quade Cooper)'s career, hell, we may have already witnessed it. But we may be witnessing the very beginning also. Neither would surprise me.

I am not saying that his career is over and he will never play for the Reds or Wallabies again.

I think it is pretty clear that his actions are a good lesson in how to go about destroying your career though.

Not one single thing has worked in his favour throughout and he has burned bridges with all the parties he needs to work with including the Reds.

People will get over it (probably also including the ARU) but it is pretty clear that if he continued with that sort of behaviour things would only get worse for him.

Fuck me, how is this thread any different from the other one with 130 odd pages? The same haters hating & the same defenders defending.
Bottom line is most of this is speculation & guess work.
Don't you all have something better to do than rag out on a Rugby player?

You are grossly over-simplifying peoples' positions here. Dismissing those who critique him in any way as "haters" is misdirection. Plenty of people don't "hate" him yet disapprove of how he has handled things, and many would like to see him playing rugby nonetheless. There is a difference.

Cyclo, there are 4 or 5 who would love to see him leave & probably have done way before the current dramas. Quade has had people on his back since he first came onto the scene.
I've never seen so much vitriol towards one player in 40 years of watching Rugby. It's no wonder he doesn't know whether he's Aurthur or Martha, he's either loved or hated. It really is unbecoming of the Rugby community in my opinion & I'm sick of the whole thing.
Did we really need a new thread to go over the same old crap?

The thread was to gauge what people thought he would do next year with the poll and it has done that. I did say in the first post i was happy to have it combined with the old one or even would have been happy just for the poll to stay open. I guess the mods were happy enough that it could have provided something the other thread hasn't

Don't like the thread? Don't post in it.
Don't like people with a different opinion? Don't go on forums, ever.

I've been a long term supporter but this has me questioning that. I do want to see him stay but he is on his way to doing his career irreparable damage and alienating his fan base. Blind support of the guy is just as bad as blind hate which i'm not denying is there. Have you seen rule 10?

My approach to the poll actually involved considering the interaction of QC (Quade Cooper) with the Reds and ARU and had nothing to do with my view of QC (Quade Cooper): the question says "will" not "should".
I thought that the ARU might lean on the reds to stop them signing/picking him. I also wondered how that would be played out - would it become public if it happened?
Could be very interesting early next year.

As talented as he is, I don't want to see him playing for the Wallabies anytime soon after his comments and the way he has handled the negotiations.

As a Tahs supporter, I don't want him to play for the Reds as it improves their chances of beating us. From a more objective stance, I hope he does play for the Reds, keeps his mouth shut, has a stellar year and redeems himself.

That said, I can't help but feel he is doing the dirty on the Reds. assuming he signs a new contract and the ARU ratifies it after his fight, it means a couple of months where the Reds can't market him as one of their star players which may affect the take-up of memberships. He is creating a lot of waves just so he can have a go at a fairly low-level boxing match.

In the spirit of the Christmas season, I can't decide if he is a goose or a turkey.

My boss would suggest work, but I'm not convinced he's right.

My boss would agree. That's why I have set my monitor up so it faces away from the door. Almost everyone else has their monitor facing the door. A little forethought is all that's needed.

To sum it up the Aussie Rugby predicament:

Cooper = GREAT Super Rugby player, poor test player to date, hard to manage (might be a good bloke but he's certainly a loose cannon).
Barnes= Solid test player, poor Super Rugby player, leadership material.

Do you listen to Triple J en_force_er ? I have been dying to try and squeeze in that reference all morning! Gold! :D

I do but not usually the morning show (not that I don't like it, it's pretty decent) if that's what you're talking about. Was there a joke about it?

Hack and the Sunday evening show are always an interesting listen but the music is pretty hit and miss. It's the pick of the bunch music wise though.
