He'll play. Just wondering how his teammates will feel about him if he doesn't play well?

You can't make this much of a fuss and then not deliver.

A few days I voted no but now I think that he will box, collect a tidy sum to cover what he'd have lost signing the incentive-based contract and then sign the ARU contract after his fight in February. That is, unless the ARU cut him loose.

Cooper is a very talented player with immense positives and some serious negatives. He is marketable because he's exciting, but also because he courts attention. Dating Steph Rice, for example, tends to give you a profile beyond the usual for the sport. Plus, his particular talents are incredibly exciting -- those long passes for the Reds, for example. But he isn't the best player in the world. He's not even close and never has been.

I totally agree he has substantial marketing value, almost certainly above the $400k price. But I also think he has a good chance of fading from memory once out of the Aussie limelight -- ie Japan or France.

Certainly it would be a shame to see him go, but I think he's exactly the wrong guy to teach that he can get whatever he wants from the game if he has a big enough tantrum.

Maybe Quade is Australia's Gavin Henson?

@ 24 I think more responsability needs to lay ith his bosses, the people he reports to, they need to manage him and coach him - Link has done that well.

Another very gifted player - Andrew Walker - under Rod Mcqueen he excelled, under other coaches - walk about.

Whether in business, or sport - coaching / leading is a very special skill.

QC (Quade Cooper) has got unbelievable talent, he's also got an unbelievable mouth - but he is young, loves the game, and always spending time with the fans after the game.

He's had the balls to say what alot of us only type under made up names.

Not that well.
Go through the list of his off field problems over the last 3 years when Link has coached(pandered to) him.

ILTW - I'm not saying he has not done wrong, I m pointing out that the majority of the forum have been critical of the Wallabies attacking prowess, their kicking, their game play - Cooper spoke up and got harpooned.
I dont have a list of his off field problems, and the timing - my recolection only - they were more significant prior to Link coming on board, and reduced as Links tennure grew and QC (Quade Cooper) started playing "happy enjoyable" rugby. It appears his problems arise when he is frustrated.

He must get frustrated when he gets pissed!

Can't agree more, I can't wait to be there in Feb cheering for him and his little mate to carve up.

The reds could be awesome in 2013. He is training with the boys, he'll have a huge year giving us those brilliant wtf moments he gave us in 2010 and 2011 that silenced us until we comprehended what we just saw then had us going nuts.

I hope so, I think it had each Aust province cheering for the Reds because of the brand of rugby that was being played.

Well if the ARU paid me what they were paying him they wouldn't hear a bad word from me - unless I wanted to leave anyway.

Inside shoulder - his wage reflected what he was doing on the padock when he signed the contract. He deserved every cent.
Hearing a bad word - he is sharing the same frustrations as the supporters, here we are sitting at desks passing comments about the Wallabies, and he comes out and says what we think. Agree, it could have been delivered differently, I'm putting that down to maturity. But shit, good on him for being concerned about the brand of crap we are currently playing - that game against Italy was attrocious, it has been a simalar brand for the last 12 months.

He may be a villain/brat/wanka in some peoples eyes, but i don't necessarily think villains in our sport are a bad thing..
It builds interest in matches, it attracts headlines and increases the profile of the game.

I don't think being the villain works for Quade at all. He set himself up to be the villain prior to the RWC with the Richie McCaw niggle and it backfired on him completely. Hard to say whether this was intentional or not but it sure didn't work for him.

He became the villain again this year with the twitter posts and his comments on The Rugby Club and you'd have to say it has failed him again. None of what has transpired since has really gone in his favour.

I think he is always going to be a bit of a controversial character but I definitely think things go better for him when he doesn't put increased pressure and focus on himself by playing the villain.

I disagree completely. His actions make him the poster child for how not to deal with that sort of situation. All he has done is burned his bridges and hardened the resolve of the Wallaby players against him. His actions aren't what leads to change. They're instead going to make the Wallabies and the ARU bunker down and avoid making any decisions that might vindicate Cooper's comments.

It comes back to the fact that we don't know if or for how long he had been raising his issues within the ARU. We have no idea and we'll probably never know. To say they wouldn't hear a word form you is just as bad. I would hate it if I was running an organisation knowing that every bloke in the joint was a yes man that didn't want to rock the boat.

Staying silent when you feel there's a problem is every bit as bad as speaking out inappropriately.

Glorifying what Cooper did is silly. It's not like he's blowing the whistle on corruption or something. It's petulant behaviour. Even if there are people on the team who agree with him, he's betrayed the trust of his teammates, behaved in grandstanding when the team was playing, and generally behaved like a selfish twat.

He's a bloody good footballer, but he's not some sort of truth-telling hero.
