I have watched that clip time and time again and I still think that the "challenge" on TPN by Brussow was timed to cause damage to the player, he lead with the knee and elbow/forearm and made little attempt at the ball. It was obviously payback for TPN knocking him arse over in the previous play causing him to cough up the ball.

In any event TPN is as good in everything that Moore does but just adds that bit more power in defence and also in attack. His charging runs for NSW were very reminiscent of Wilie O close to the line.

But TPN's lineout throwing isn't as good...

Anyways, at the moment I see Moore as our starting hooker with TPN to come on and add that extra bit on the field.

Agree, but beg to change my mind if TPN starts throwing to the lineout straight. That and his predilection for passing low percentage passes in tackles are his only flaws IMO.

A part of me wants him to start in every Wallabies game but another part says that there is no way his body will hold up doing the things he does and so he is better as a bench test player.

I think it's great that we have two very high quality players in the same position. No reason they couldnt form a very effective one-two punch this season. Taf is awesome around the paddock and Squeaky is fantastic in the set piece. It's a great situation to be in.

Moore is the current incumbent Wallaby. It is up to TPN to force his way in.

TPN has been broken for a year. When he is fit, he will certainly challenge Moore, but he has been broken for a long time. He needs to find form.

And watching that video, TPN gets very low to tackle. While it is effective, I have concerns that he is going to hurt himself sooner rather than later.

Pigeonholing Squeaky as a set piece fwd isn't accurate - his workrate was unbefuckinglievable. See 3Ns stats below and the EOYT ones were similar

Tafs gonna have a good time topping it, although undoubtedly he brings the impact, which may well be off the bench

So according to another rugby forum...

The French are reporting that both Giteau AND Elsom have signed for Toulon...

Christ...

Nothing solid, just speculation.

Excuse my crappy translation.

This Tuesday, February 1, the market of the transfers will open officially and the clubs will be able to communicate on expected movements. At present, the RCT (Toulon) did not officially announce any transfers, but are on the point of announcing eight changes to its squad for the next season.
As he had said in our edition of November 29th, Mourad Boudjellal wants “only players powerful and the international ones”. With the expected signatures of Botha, Giteau, Stake, Tillous-Border, even Elsom, the above mentioned criteria are certainly fulfilled.

Les Mouvements(1)

Eifion Lewis-Roberts, Pays de Galles, pilier, 30 ans, 1,86 m, 132 kg, Sale, 1 sélection.
Bakkies Botha, Afrique du Sud, deuxième ligne, 31 ans, 2,02 m, 121 kg, Bulls, 72 sélections.
Rocky Elsom, Australie, troisième ligne, 27 ans, 1,97 m, 112 kg, Brumbies, 65 sélections.
Sébastien Tillous-Bordes, France, demi de mêlée, 25 ans, 1,76 m, 91 kg, Castres, 8 sélections.
Matt Giteau, Australie, demi d’ouverture/trois-quarts centre, 28 ans, 1,78 m, 85 kg, Brumbies, 91 sélections.

Yeah, keywords here are ones like "expected", "imminent"

The back row details:
To overcome the non-arrival of Montpellier Gorgodze, CTN is considering keeping George Smith, with an upgrading. An agreement was about to be found. The position of flanker, Rocky Elsom of Australia would be close to signing. Tracking the Boutaty Bayonne, which extends to the Oar, is abandoned. Given the bottling side open, he was asked Thomas Sourice to look for another port. Fotunuupule Auelua will retain its versatility. Fernandez Lobbe has signed for three more seasons, while Van Niekerk, El Abd and Missoup are under contract.

And re flyhalf:
One of the biggest recruits in the offseason would be Matt Giteau (Brumbies). The signing of Australian international, who can also play center, is imminent. Author benefit very average, Tom May will no longer red and black jersey next season.
While Argentina's Felipe Contepomi and England's Jonny Wilkinson will play probably the World Cup in New Zealand, the club is forced to recruit a flyhalf for the start of the season. As authorized by the National League rugby, CTN will use an extra player, at least eight games for the Top 14 in duplicate.

Even with the mildly retarded Google translations, you can see it's not exactly a done deal in either case.

We have enoug hdepth in terms of backs that its probably not gonna harm australia when it comes to them going, but the forwards if they leave, we're screwed.

I'd argue, RF, that any time a household name leaves it harms the game in Aus. I can totally see why they would, and for guys like Mitchell there's the prospect of coming back for RWC15 too. But backs and forwards alike, every big name gone is a little less interest the wider public has in our game. And that's going to screw us regardless of the young talent which can possibly step up.
