I'd argue, RF, that any time a household name leaves it harms the game in Aus. I can totally see why they would, and for guys like Mitchell there's the prospect of coming back for RWC15 too. But backs and forwards alike, every big name gone is a little less interest the wider public has in our game. And that's going to screw us regardless of the young talent which can possibly step up.

They become household names somehow, and thats because other household names left.

SMH reporting that Moore has Re-signed with the Ponies until 2013. Very, very good news for Oz Rugby IMO. Hopefully some others who have been rumoured will also do so.

Could Moore be in line for the captaincy role post RWC?

Australia could certainly do worse.....

Less than two weeks ago Mitchell was considering joining best mate Matt Giteau in France after the 2011 World Cup but further negotiations with the ARU convinced the 26-year-old to stay in Australia.

He is the third big name re-signing for the ARU in the past week, following the signatures of Brumbies stars Stephen Moore and Adam Ashley-Cooper. Ben Alexander has also re-signed with the ARU.
Anyone else think this a bit harsh on Alexander?

Yeah, Alexander re-signed at the same time as AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) but it's been overshadowed by the story of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 'possibly' going to the Tahs...

I think with Mitchell staying on it would just be ridiculous for AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to make such a move...

Anyways, Fagan & co are pretty confident he'll stay...

Great news about Barnes re-signing. I've been saying for years that he would head to France after 2011 and for a period I was ok with that. Very happy to be proven wrong.

Now that QC (Quade Cooper) is top dog, Barnes has shown over the last 12 months that he is confident, capable, calm and above all, supportive of the team in his back up role. Not to mention the impact he makes off the bench.

All of the things Gits is sadly not known for at the moment.

Great stuff Toot-Toot.

Barnes re-signing actually removes one of Quade Cooper's bargaining chips..

Imagine what sort of negotiating position the ARU would have been in had Barnes and Giteau both left the country, QC (Quade Cooper) could practically have written his own check.
