Would I be wrong to assume that Rugby WA isn't paying a cent for its legal representation? What about the ARU? Who would want to represent the bad guys pro bono?

The Rebels are probably in the same boat. The Chairman orf the VRU is Tim North, a prominent QC (Quade Cooper) in old Melbourne Town.

Take a quick gander at his profile (highlights by me)

Tim North QC (Quade Cooper) has more than 30 years extensive and diverse experience in commercial and litigation involving contractual disputes, corporate governance, constitutional law and regulatory review, immigration, employment law/directors' duties, proceedings involving gaming and casino establishments in the Pacific Islands, anti-competitive behaviour involving competition and anti-trust law and practice and procedures relating to Prudential Regulation in Australia.

His practice also includes matters relating to conflicts of interest involving legal practitioners, superannuation, partnership disputes, winding-up and insolvency, trade practices and leasing disputes, price fixing, misconduct regarding procedural fairness of arbitrators, claims of exclusivity over retail, intellectual property, constructive trusts, equity, estates and trust law. He has appeared in cases and tribunals involving the Western Australian Mining Act.

Given so many nice things said and posted to me I through I would add just two more post, one pertaining to this site and second a nice story to end of.

Reds, Quick and other thank you very much for your kind words. Hang with me a bit over the next little bit. Hopefully the next couple of paragraphs becomes clear quite soon. I also feel it’s very important and regular posters on this thread should read this post.

I guess in going if I should be totally honest before I go I should point out that there are blocks and fights against those that don’t agree with ARU management at every turn, almost as if the ARU held wisdom beyond normal. This often annoyed me as I have been essentially self employed as a consultant since I was 20. I have spent over 9 years in expat positions and hold two under graduate degrees in Accounting and Business management, three post graduate qualifications, a Diploma in Company Law, a post grad Diploma in Online Education and a Master Degree in Taxation Law. Have worked on Rupert Murdoch’s personal staff for almost 3 years.

Meaning I hold my knowledge and experience very high and so don’t necessary feel the need to listen to a board and accept they have superior knowledge and or analytical skills.

Where am I going with this, until very recently there were very few like myself calling out negligent miss management of our game. In fact my experience has been at every level from park teams to committees to main stream media those in charge have almost seen it as their job to protect the ARU board.

This site is no different some months ago I was approached to write for this site, I expressed a concern I was not a popular poster and my concerns and expertise was in management and I would be critical of the ARU.

No worries, I was told my concerns were ill founded and I was given the green light to send in some articles . I proceeded to send in a couple of articles.

The articles were very critical of the ARU and many systems we had in place. After reading the articles I was told I could post on forums only and they made a mistake in offering me the chance to set up threads.

Below I have copied bits of the exchange of PM’s on this site. The blocks are everywhere. Keep up the good fight and Quick I don’t feel any joy at being right or yelling to the hills I was right.

Quick Red or anyone else wanting the first rejected article simply PM me, and read what a few months ago was considered essentially unfit to publish.

A brief copy of the exchanges obviously cut back to just the bear bones.

TO me
Hi no.9,

I like some of the stuff you write in the forum and the way you write it.

Have you ever thought of volunteering to write blogs for us on the matters you are interested in? That would give your ideas a lot more coverage.

Let me know if you are.

From Me
My interest in Rugby is or has become more on the management side of things.

My wife plays soccer / football, and I have an interest in surfing as well. Meaning I am far less hard core rusted on, much more a rugby first but general sports person.

We suffer not so much on the field but in the board rooms.

To Me

I'll float these comments for you and get back in a while.

To Me
I spoke to a couple of the senior guys. I quoted your post to them and they're keen.

From Me
As your suggested here are some topic areas and an overview of what would be in them.

Let me know what you think of them, as I said my fear is Rugby or the ARU, is not facing up to current issues and challenges. More masking over some major issues hoping the media company called SANZAAR will come to our rescue.

To Me
I have copied that to the others.

In the meantime you need to be signed up as an official writer. Here is a form instruction.

From Me
I sent in 3 articles here is the start of the first

These are my thoughts . hope I don't get shot down too much many don't agree with me.

Title

A National Domestic Competition is essential for Rugby’s Survival.
body

Rugby in Australia has a clear choice, maintain the existing landscape of having Super Rugby controlled by a media company called SANZAAR or accept the challenge of the Australian sporting landscape and change.

To Me

The other fellows - three of them now - who also know your stuff in the forum, said you had some very good points but they are better expressed in the forum and not in blogs.

I apologise for wasting your time and thank you for your efforts.

And I can tell you he likes nothing more than taking on the jokers at the ARU
He knows their constitution better than they do and has been a thorn in their side for many years going back to the ONeill days

Good to know we have a scrapper in our corner. Wish him all the best from us (the collective Rebel fans, et al).

Lets finish on a positive personal story. Some forwards may not enjoy this and some may even suggest I was wrong. But in the half union I am sure my shop steward would support me.

I confess to in this match being a ring in.

A very good mate played for Smithfield Rugby.

Anyway he needed to go up the Coast and asked if I could take his place and I agreed, the division was someway down from where I played.

We played a team somewhere on the northern beaches and it was an early match and from memory started around midday. I was 18 full of myself, and on the field was known for being yappie I never shut up constantly yelling at the pigs to work more and kept up a never ending commentary about the pigs from the other side.

Anyway I was 5’ 4” and 9 stone, and the other side I am sorry for forgetting who they were, but they had a giant, he was well over six foot and had a belly of a size I have never seen before. I could not help myself I said as he came on the field is tilting he gave me a stink eye and from that point on I simply was out of control.

I called him 3 kegs very loudly and then explained he belly was to big to be a key or even 2 so I called him 3 kegs. 3k starting yelling at me and what he planned to do. As I said he was so big I believed he could never catch me.

I also confess like many I played soccer as a kid and knew how to drag a ball back to your feet with your studs. Metal studs on the back of a calf dragged back sting like hell and do little damage. I was very skilful at the stud drag back across the calf.

Anyway 3k, is giving me more stink eyes and constantly telling everyone what he plans to do.

Early in the game he tried the old trick [he was a prop the one that created the tunnel with his size for a shorter prop on the other side]. So 3k tries to kick me misses by a fair bit but I grab my knee as if hit by a baseball bat and he gets called out as I struggle to my feet and with the ref giving him a talking to and looking him in the eye I recover kick him in the ankle and get ready to take the free.

He became super mad nay he was in a mood to tear heads off now. Maybe five minutes later he comes in from the side [obviously against the rules] and dives over the ruck aimed at me, I saw him coming stepped sideways then as he lay on the park did the drag back over is calf and he lifted his leg in pain which pushed me off balance and I came crashing down with a well placed elbow to the ear.

3k is now carrying on a fit, we got another free and I kicked a goal and thank him loudly as the ball sailed between the post.

Next scrum he tried to kick me again and with his leg out I did the stud drag across his calf again. Its difficult to describe his mood at this stage he had totally lost it and managed to insult the ref and their captain was called over to clam him down.

His entire team is trying to clam him down, remember in these days only two subs all match and no inter change.

From a line out he came crashing through our line charging at me but his size and bulk it was simple drop the shoulder and step the other way. He sailed past and left a hole the size of the Sydney heads I sped through it and then passed to the wing and we scored a try. Again I thanked him.

All the time I was constantly commenting on the size of his belly and calling him 3 k.

10 minutes out from half time again he charge missed and laying on the ground it was almost cruel I did the stud drag back across his calf.

His rage by now was out of control he climbed off the grass and sung a haymaker missing me by a country mile but knocking out their second rower.

The ref sent him off, and I gave it to him and suggested he went on a diet.
Talk about mad he paced the side line in line with me telling everyone he wants me behind the sheds after the game. So I suggested loudly should I bring condoms. This comment saw him come on the field with the ref again sending him off and coming over to me saying lay off him

Anyway after half time he kept pacing me on the side lines telling everyone what he planned to do to me and its wasn’t pleasant.

I got caught behind a lineout with a poor hand off and the ball bouncing and their forwards charging forward by instinct I kicked the ball on the ground out, there was no time to pick it up. It hit 3 k in the head, his rage if possible lifted although it was a fluke of fluke’s I claimed credit for the skill of the kick.

3k, was now constantly yelling at the ref, at me, and his rage was growing.

I started to get worried he was beyond huge, I was in a strange town.

I expressed to the ref, I was becoming concerned about 3k and my safety.

To my eternal surprise and gratitude the ref stopped the game, walked to the sideline on the half way line and called for the club manager. They produced someone I doubt the club manager but this guy showed up. The ref told the guy [acting club manager] to get 3 k out of the ground or he would stop play.

I was safe and with 5 minutes to go left the field, jumped in my Torana LC [161 motor] and sped home.

Round two would have been funny as I am sure they had something planned for me and then the ultimate insult it was a ring in who is never coming back.

I am sure if you read this and you are 3 k, please accept my sorries.

Bye all and the best of luck with your Rugby desires..

Guess who has taken on another gig now.

Whitecoat to take him away?

Former NAB chief Cameron Clyne to chair Whitecoat

April 27 2017
SMH: Clancy Yeates

Former National Australia Bank chief Cameron Clyne is returning to the business world as chair of health insurer-backed website Whitecoat, as it seeks to bring greater competition and transparency to the health care sector.

In his first post-NAB board role outside the not-for-profit sector and the Australian Rugby Union, Mr Clyne will lead the inaugural board of a start-up that aims to be "TripAdvisor for health care".

… "I've always been very interested in competition, and certainly when I was involved in banking that's something I tried to drive as much as possible," Mr Clyne said in an interview with BusinessDay. …

It's time to take on more opportunities with everything going swimmingly and under control at the ARU.

Either that or he is about to cut and run again.

After presiding over NABs failed UK expansion and now being at the helm of the ARUs bumbling, im surprised anyone would hire Clyne, especially to take on the Healthcare industry where big pharmaceutical companies rule the landscape and self diagnosising over the Internet is generally frowned upon.

Theoretically - if the State unions don't go broke but the ARU does then what happens?

Can a "new" governing body phoenix its way out of the old ARU's ashes? Will World Rugby give the licence to someone else?

If so lets ALL buy "Own the Force" shares and bankrupt the motherfucker, then beg any high net worth individual with even the slightest interest in the game to fund the rebirth of Australian Rugby (thanks Western Force for the inspiration).

I'm seriously over their bullshit - what an absolute clusterfuck it is to decide to cut a team whilst pretending you had NO such intentions to do so only to announce that you ARE cutting a team and that it'll all be resolved in 48-72 hours ONLY to NOT make a decision because it has emerged that you legally CAN'T.

All the while pretending there is some sort of process that will logically select a team to cut, when you are in fact trying to find some logic that defends your prior to decision to cut a certain team because it is the only team that you might, somehow, if-you're-lucky be able to cut.

But probably not.

All the while you are utterly disrespecting said team by ignoring them or communicating exclusively through lawyers, and otherwise remaining silent within the public domain.

All the while the clock is ticking as the 10th of May (and SANZAARS reconvening) looms ever closer, and the possibility of legal action from the combined unions of South Africa, Argentina and New Zealand grows stronger.

Even the Rebels, the team that WON'T be cut, is planning to sue them for damages.

So in summary, that could be: The Force, the Rebels and SANZAAR. They've gone full Third Reich and will soon be fighting a war on 86 fronts.

How stupid do they think we are? Do they expect us to believe their bullshit?

Sorry for repeating much of whats already been said but if you laid out every development in this saga it'd be laughable to say the very least.

How about an "Own The ARU", it can support which ever litigation it chooses and then pick up the pieces after for the benefit of Aus Rugby.
First priorities are an enlarged NRC and The Wallabies. Later it can consider the benefits or not of entry into a Super Rugby Competition of sorts.

I think someone already pointed out why this won't have any meaningful effect in the long run.

Any new board will ultimately be chaired by similar people with similar flaws and a similarly limited budget. Change won't necessarily work like that.

Fair enough, but in simple terms all it would need to do is enforce some kind of transparency on decision making and push an agenda that is inclusive of all rugby supporters based on the long term not Foxtel's profit reporting.

We also need to remember the hapless victims - players, their families and staff of said clubs. Force & Rebels banned from signing player contracts yet lucrative offers and from overseas being waved under their noses. The players are living in a hell limbo and have been hamstrung from being able to sort out their careers and livelihoods. IMHO I hope that the players can turn around and have legitimate rights to also sue the ARU for this F***kUp thanks to their own beligerance and bloody mindedness.

$31million in funding to the provincial Mitre 10 teams... that's the gulf between Australian and New Zealand, that's why they have a production line of talent to step up to Super Rugbyz

But surprisingly only $3.2milliok to the Super Rugby teams in total, assuming NZRU covers players wages and the teams are expected to cover other costs through their own match day income..

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ it's a bit more complicated (as I've previously noted, people are literally writing Uni theses about it), but that's the gist of it.
