I'm in the same boat - but being a die-hard doesn't mean you can't be critical of some obvious failings. Blind allegiance doesn't help anyone.

How I like this post. I have been banging my head on the wall for more than a few years about this with the Tahs and more recently with the Wallabies. This is the very points I have tried to make on so many occasions regarding both of those teams.

With regard to this case it is a point that was raised in depth by Redshappy at the beginning of last season (2011) when he posted about the long term prospects of the Force and the overall governance of the side.

The Board needs to resign now and rebuild totaly from the top down. No use getting in a coach and then changing the board.

That's a good question Tiger. And I don't think there is a realistic answer of anything they could do. Probably giving space for an extra one or two developing player concessions is it.

I think the decision to make two academies rather than have each team have its own academy was a sharp swift blow to the nuts. But they can't really take that back now.

But regardless of where the problem came from, this is a problem the Force need to fix. They need to decide whether the current management team can operate within the current environment and replace people if they aren't up to it. They also need to acknowledge that now is the time to start a rebuild for the team and start making decisions that will benefit us more in the long term than the short term. They also need to be proactive about dealing with some of the difficulties we face out here.

In 5 years team the Force could very easily end up as Australia's version of Connacht.

Let's hope it doesn't happen but plenty of parallels can be drawn.

Meanwhile the Warriors are playing Manly in front of 20,000 spectators in Perth. The Force better get their act together before Perth gets an NRL side.

Bad bad news about Pocock. They had a chance to keep him and completely ballsed things up. Start again, sack the RugbyWA board, they are scrambling to save their own asses starting right now. So we move on now with no coach and no gun players. What a basket case. I will remain a member but a disenchanted one.

Maybe we should have paid more attention to the James Oconnor debacle? We all thought it was Britney being a spoilt shit, but the truth is his insight was pretty spot on.

The warning signs were there a long time ago, I think you could technically trace a large number of issues back to the point when RugbyWA approved JM to coach in South Africa in the off-season and in turn decided he wasnt going to return...

That showed weak leadership and management which has filtered on since..

JOC (James O'Connor), Graham, Genia and Pocock are all management failures..

I'm splitting hairs but I don't think Pocock was a management failure, or even JOC (James O'Connor), but rather management's inability to put in place the things those two were seeking beyond money. Graham wasn't a big loss other than bizarre timing that makes you wonder.

For me Genia followed by Cheika was the complete cockup, one that suggests there are rats within. Or some outside with very good sources. Or both. Probably with red jerseys >)'>

Force cannot retain the star players.. Ioane, Giteau, Mitchell, JOC (James O'Connor) and now Pocock..

You can't help but feel that Force are becoming a real basket case, if they were a horse you would just shoot them and put them out of their misery, time for ARU to step in urgently and sort something out.

The Force need to look to the Highlanders and what they've achieved over the last 2-3 years.

Otago is the least attractive of the NZ Super provinces in terms of liveability, but they picked up a coach (Jamie Josef) who held a lot of influence in a larger rugby province and had a no nonsense attitude. He picked more locals and brought over some journeymen from his old province and put together a surprisingly competitive team. When the side had ALREADY proved they were compeditive the superstars were knocking at their door (Hosea Gear, Collin Slade, etc).

The Brumbies have just achieved something similar (sucsess with the roster of joruneymen then superstars like Pocock want to come play).

Point is, get your base right. Look at a coach like Manenti or Louden (the ones the Tahs are rumoured to be hunting) then fix stuff and the stars will come. Throwing corporate dollars will only work so much when you have distance working against you.

Interesting to read in the Force's press release that the ARU have given them further foreign player dispensations, similar to what the Rebels got when we started.

Anyone know the fine print of these? How many/how long etc?
