The thing that really screws us is the lack of a local academy (thanks ARU) or a third tier competition (thanks ARU) or more funding for our local competition (thanks ARU). Anything that helps to develop local players. Anything that undermines WA's ability to produce players undermines the viability of a franchise in Perth.

Absolutely agree on this Forcefield. Each franchise needs to have its' own Academy for up to 20 players. Scrap the EPS that way the force have 50 players training in Perth, learning their systems and gaining experience.

Not only that but you also have a few coaches working directly with the 20 players who are also developing their skills as coaches.

It seems from the Force's inability to recruit a homegrown coach, that our talent pathways for coaches is almost non-existent and what little pathway is left is clogged with the Nuci/Eddie show for the U20s program.

Brumbies finally win over David Pocock

Test openside flanker David Pocock will play his Super Rugby with the Brumbies from next season Source: AP
WALLABIES captain and openside flanker David Pocock will sign with the Brumbies over the weekend.
Pocock has spent his entire Super Rugby career with the Western Force since making his debut in 2006.
But the Force has never reached the playoffs and Pocock wants to be part of a successful team.
Under the guidance of South Africa Test coach Jake White, the Brumbies turned their fortunes around this year and just missed the playoffs.

It makes a lot of sense to have a team here. Junior numbers have consistently increased since the Force's inception (apparently up 10% on last year). There is no current competition from Rugby League. The broadcasters want a team in Perth. I hope that the more dire things get for the Force the more our insular supporters will latch on Connacht style.

At what point are you going to start blaming the organization which actually runs the force(RugbyWA) for some of their problems..

Fans from Perth are too quick to blame the ARU rather then RugbyWA for some of the Forces problems.

No Pocock, No Sharpe, No coach.

And to think 3 months ago they would have had Genia if not for a few officials inability to shut up.

It's going to be a tight battle next year between the Reds, Brumbies and, perhaps, the Tahs. The Force look like early favourites for the spoon, I'm sorry to say.

It's a real shame, but something is rotten in RugbyWA. JOC (James O'Connor), Genia, Pocock -- controversy in each case.

The ARU are to blame for those problems. I'd be interesting to know what the difference between WA and Queensland is in ratio of player numbers to funding from ARU. You also can't argue that that two 'Super Academies' aren't massively biased towards Queensland and NSW.

There are plenty more problems that RugbyWA are to blame for though.

And you are right in suggesting that RugbyWA starts being proactive about the academy and more funding for local rugby. A third tier comp is beyond our control though.

It is what it is

As CEO of JOC (James O'Connor) Inc, JOC (James O'Connor) made a branding decision to take his product to another market........prat.

I am not to worried i feel the force backline has recruited well for next year maybe not waratahs well but it looks liek the potential fo rmore cohesion with a line up of :

9. Holmes
10. Godwin
11. Nalaga
12. Norton-Knight
13. Cummins
14. Mafi
15. Dellit

Not a terrible backline line up and offers more versatility then this years if it is behind a decent forward pack if could go ok and the force showed against the crusaders that there forward pack could stand up mcaffrey and cottrell i think will step up but they need another leader in the tight to replace sharpe. I feel Godwin can be saviour for the force backline he was imense in hsi cameo against the crusaders.

If force can get a good coach i think they will do better than people think but they need one big forward signing to lead them
