And Beale caps a pretty good individual game with a clever bit of vision and an even better kick to Holmes for another try.

Bizarre game. Tahs too slick when they had the ball. Highlanders had plenty of it, but could not do much with it. Also good defence by the Tahs.

Nice one Tahs! It wasn't pretty for a while there, but the end result was just what I expected against 3rd placed team in a weak conference.....

Mistake ridden? Did you watch Crusaders V Blues? Considering the conditions this game was a veritable show piece for classy wet rugby.

Good win. Superb defence. A lot of mistakes at times, but scored some good tries. Scrum - massive. Lineout was OK too.
Great send-off for Al Baxter from the Stadium - he deserves it, a truly good bloke, and he can be proud of the effort he put out there tonight.

So are the waratahs in the finals now or do they have to win next week?

Beauty of rugby is that it can be won playing totally different game plans. The tahs game plan (Discipline, strong defence, strong set piece) is no worse than the reds, as long as they execute it well.

Tahs are good at strangling the attack of teams without weapons, and boy the highlanders looked bereft with the ball tonight on the face of another massive effort.

If they lose next week and the Bulls lose today and next week they are in.

They will have to win next week if the Bulls and Sharks win tonight and hope either of those lose.
