All our next tier should be looking for these types of opportunities, I don't know why our Super Rugby sides aren't working through symbiotic relationships with NPC sidesEdmed doing a season with North Harbour in the NPC
Yeah, this is something I'd have thought should have been done years ago. RA covers the player wages, and NZR can offload some player contracts for those who are simply no more than club rugby standard. All our next tier should be looking for these types of opportunities, I don't know why our Super Rugby sides aren't working through symbiotic relationships with NPC sides
I'm not sure. They've already publicly acknowledged the NPC is full of a lot of players who are likely not to ever be Super Rugby standard etc.I don't think New Zealand Rugby would allow it. It's easy enough to work a couple of one off contracts every year, but I can't see New Zealand being happy with a bunch of Australian players flooding what is essentially their development competition and taking up spaces. I definitely think they'd block any formal agreements that locked this stints in.
We don't have the money for our own "NRC" so why not outsource until we can?I'm not sure. They've already publicly acknowledged the NPC is full of a lot of players who are likely not to ever be Super Rugby standard etc.
