Yes, the logos and jersey design are definitely the biggest issue with marke- oh, wait:

Have a look at the diversity in that image. I mean it has young white guys AND old white guys.

AND A WOMAN!!!

As for the slogan... well I get where they're going because we *need* a reset, but it is a poor hashtag.

The more loaded jersey is less atractive than the other and if you add more letters to the logo is less attractive IMO

Give some thought to why that is: if HSBC hands over enough sponsor cash for exclusive use of the chest and back, then that's what they get. Volvo funded enough for one sleeve. Nobody else made the cut, or that was part of the deal with HSBC and Volvo.

Either the sponsorship package structure changed, or the sponsors aren't offering enough to keep the jersey "clean" with exclusivity. As long as the money comes in, find a way.

The Tahs are hardly the most attractive sporting product in a small market, let's be honest.

That's true and for that reason, you are adding more letters on the jersey with the newer logo. No makes senses for me

More detail on Hooper from the SMH
Wallabies captain Michael Hooper is unlikely to return to the field for Waratahs until late March, with a combination of contractual leave entitlements and injury set to see him unavailable until NSW’s round six clash against Queensland.

That's missing one game against each of the Australian sides (including the Drua).

I enjoyed watching the trial game today, the concept is great, perhaps they can rotate and played Manly, Rats, and North next year. Then the following year Eastwood, Southern, etc...

A lot of the players involved won't get regular Super Rugby time this year but great to see them stepping up today

Prefer to see this a more regular fixture against the same clubs ie west harbour, two blues and wild fires as way of helping the battling clubs in the west and newer clubs (wildfires).

Was a decent day - Tahs conceded one try and scored about 12 of their own.

There were very few first-stringers in the Tahs' change strip, but some are putting their hands up. Many of the others were from other Premier Clubs or extended squad. A couple of Aussies 7s players I noted.

The best thing that could be said about the club sides up against them was effort. However, the fitness of a lot of those guys wouldn't see them through First Grade in many Subbies clubs, and is probably the reason they lose in the back half of games so badly.

The club v club games were entertaining tho, and it was a nice stadium, and I got a good 20 minutes watching one section of the day with Paul Doorn and having a bit of a chat about the season ahead.

Interesting comments from Darren Coleman in the Super Rugby launch about the complexities of trying to serving multiple masters and keeping everyone happy when asked about connections with the shute shield.

He's been on that side of the fence and knows that Premier Rugby (under the SRU) is quite independent. The relationship with NSWRU is hardly dictatorial.

SRU might be seperate, but no secret about the political weight and influence they hold.

Just found it interesting that the coach would mention it, you’d hope it was something he wouldn’t have to worry about.

By the looks of Saturday, he'll have an eye on a lot of clubbies coming through to get the best of them.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has any idea of where Carlo Tizzano fits into DC's plans?

I really rate him but I got the sense towards the end of last season that Gilmore/Whitaker preferred Gamble. Now, Gamble and Silk are the only 7's who have gotten time so far?

One explanation for that may be to keep Tizzano fresh for the opening rounds. But a recent article by C Doran on the Code might suggest Tizzano might have some friction with the coaching staff...

Carlo Tizzano, the brash openside flanker who ruffled feathers when he first arrived at the Waratahs in 2020 and soon after declared he wanted Michael Hooper’s No.7 jersey, was one of the youngsters where the pointed message was directed.

“It wasn’t directed just as Carlo,” Coleman says. “It was a few-fold. Players, when things aren’t quite going right, they potentially look to externalise what the reasons are (for their shortcomings) and Carlo had been vocal a bit about our faculties, saying the temporary ones weren’t good. So I hit that on the head pretty quickly...

“We were looking over at the new facility getting built and we spoke about how cool that will be when it’s done, but unless you aim up in ‘22 you won’t be there in ‘23.

“It wasn’t directed just at Carlo that he won’t be there in ‘23, it was more, let’s get on with what we’ve got and work hard and I don’t want to hear anymore chat about facilities and I don’t want you thinking about the new facility because if you’re thinking about that, you probably won’t get there.”

All this talk of Mack Hansen is kinda ridiculous. Did anybody talk about him being a great talent before he went to Ireland? He was kept on the bench at the Brumbies by Tom Banks, who despite his Wallaby caps isn't that great. If nobody had said anything, would we have noticed Mack Hansen left Super Rugby?

I don't think Hansen is as great as Donaldson could pan out to be.
Great call

100% Good luck to him but geez they are carrying on, also if he REALLY wanted to stay he would have done so and fought for a spot. Honestly, we can't keep everyone here and we have had plenty of players come our way.

Says more about our talent I’d team. The best at 15 are not at 24. Pay peanuts to guys in that position of selection you get what you pay for.
