Waratahs 2022

End of the day most of the talent comes from NSW and Qld. While I am a firm believer in growing the footprint of Rugby in Australia these are by far the two most important sides and ultimately I think that’s why there is always interest in both the Reds and Tahs from opposition fans. Because if both these sides are going good the wallabies will be strong.

I want to see DC turn the Tahs around because love them or hate them they are fucking important to the game here

I’m not a Tahs fan.

You had a dig, and I called your comments ironic.
I think neither teams live in glass houses. Bit of banter and light harded bagging of other teams all part of the course. I don’t think anyone has a problem with that or right to respond as heck we equally bag our own teams just as much if not more. Hence get in while you can as sure as heck will take the piss out of other teams when opportunity arises.

Back to rugby

So the Tahs seems to have changed a few things

More support from depth as opposed from keeping width

Better attitude in defence (not difficult)

And the attacking maul, Pauli Taumoepeau has them now doing what I call the long caterpillar maul as opposed to the scrum version

I liked cheikas analysis on Stan where highlighted how tahs made sure never overcommitted players to breakdown and kept that nice defensive spread. Showed how key to their better defence.

Is it possible to buy a GEN BLUE jersey? Usually are nicer than Waratahs jerseys:

I never found it for selling, even when I lived in Australia. It seems that you have to have a contact in the organization to get one

Foxports have some detail around the contract:
Although Beale won’t play for the Waratahs until next season, the Paris-based utility back will return to Australia ahead of the series against England in July.

He will return on a one-and-a-half year contract, worth a little more than $400,000 - less than half of what he was previously earning in Australian rugby and what he is currently on in the French Top 14, where he has played for Racing 92 since 2020.

Assuming the contract length and amount reported a correct it seems like a pretty good move from the Tahs/RA. I don't think he'll have huge value beyond the world cup but it's definitely better to have him as an option for the wallabies and pushing up the standards in super rugby.

Anybody complaining about having Beale back on that sort of money I reckon is nuts as looks a great deal and Beale being committed given clearly not about money for his desire to return.

welcome back kurtley…

Also he's in banging form for Racing 92 and performed well on the Spring Tour with absolute fuck all preparation with the team.

Kurtley could be a good teacher for the young players at Tahs, he can teach a lot. But for the love of god, he's not an option at international level. You can't pick a 34 year olds at #15 for a World Cup. The last defender never can be an old man and he never was good at tackling

100% As much as I love KB (Kurtley Beale), really, I would much rather have a couple of younger guys fighting for that 15 spot than KB (Kurtley Beale). What message are we sending? Surely KB (Kurtley Beale) is not expecting to sit on the bench for that Tahs next year, If I was Ramm, Newsome, and co I would be looking for a new gig

I wish Newsome was looking for a new gig two years ago.

I think many would agree with you but who would you pick in your squad today?

I'm hoping they use KB (Kurtley Beale) as a mentor and a flexible bench option. He's play just about every position in the backs, and IMHO he's always at his best when coming from the bench as an impact player. Give the younger guys the starting roles & longer times on the field.

Also hoping someone claims the 15 jersey as their own this season. Newsome was looking good in the trials, but wasn't much in the opening match. It'll be interesting to see how he goes this coming Friday.
