An inform Beale, even at nearly 50yro, is better than what we rolled out last season for the wobs

None are what you would call nailed in quality test players

So yes

At super level? better than the lot of them

My concern is for Donaldson & Harrison, Beale is likely to start at 15 so one starts at 10 and the other doesn't make the bench
When you say ‘inform’ how far back do we need to go? I agree Banks isn’t nailed in, but I can’t see why Beale would be in front of him.

He was good for one of three games at EOYT and was ordinary for the other two. He was also poor for the Tahs last time he was in Australia, and not much better for the Wallabies. The EOYT proved (once again) that players doing well in Europe is absolutely no indicator of how they will perform in tests.

Maybe the change of coaches will be a plus at the Tahs and maybe more time with the squad will help at test level. I think he’s a valuable addition to the Tahs and I am very encouraged he is committed enough to take a big hit. That says volumes to me. But if recent form is any consideration I don’t see how Beale gets to the top of the pile.

Is a Wallabies (in AR)top up justified if his role is to mentor Tahs up and comers?
Nope, 400k per season is too much for a broken organization like RA. I know is half of what he can earn in Europe, everybody loves KB (Kurtley Beale) and he's a good advert as an Indigenous role model in terms of marketing.

Buuuut that is the salary of a high profile NRL player like Josh Addo Carr or Maika Sivo:

I know everyone here hates Mungos and wants opportunities for the young talent from GSP and Shute Shield. I just saying

The current best winger in Aussie Rugby after round 1 is a Mungo (Tom Wright) lol

JOC (James O'Connor) was great when he first returned to the Reds, and played well enough to be considered Super Rugby player of the year in 2021. And Quade obviously was a key player for the Wobs last year.
Different positions. At #10 you don't need speed or at least is not one of top priorities, just look at players like Sexton or even Quade playing ok at international level without an amazing speed.

At 15 the things are differents, speed is one of the priorities and I can't remember any succesful slow fullback. Maybe Leigh Halfpenny in Wales some years ago but by contrast, he was a reliable kicker

We should be poaching more league players maybe (josh ado Carr would be ok )

If you are going down that controversial path, Tom Trbojevic would be the first one you would likely approach as a fullback option that no one has really nailed at Wallaby level. He is a bloke that would go pretty well at rugby!

Good NRL fullbacks are worth over $1million, Turbo included.

Wingers in the NRL are one of the lowest paid positions. A fair comparison of Beales wage would be against other NRL fullbacks.

I think 2023 will be interesting for the Tahs with a new home stadium and proper training facilities. You can brush over it, but working environment matters.
North dominated the AFL in the late 90s with their facilities housed in old portables that leaked. Fremantle is one of the most well resourced clubs financially and have made one GF in their 28 year existence

The Rebels sharing with Collingwood, Carlton or the AAMI facility with the Demons, Storm and Victory isn’t an excuse for their below par results over the years

The figure reported is 400k for 1 and a half seasons, so 267k per season.

Form? We will see, but he has been doing well in France (which a much higher standard than Super Rugby AU - I don't think the issue with the drop ins was anything more than cohesion issues, they just need time to work on structures while building trust that they know where units will be) and Beale got better within the Wob structure

He has a point of difference in that he has the ability to add something different from the back as he has that "poacher" mentality in a test side that needs someone who can read the game, our outside backs are currently filled with athletes as opposed to footballers.

Someone who can read a game and put other players in space in the outside channels will be useful

He was pretty instrumental in a win on the weekend against Bordeaux (top french team atm) in Bordeaux. Though he did go off injured in the 68th minute.

There's a pretty slick pass at 2.15 from him that sets up the levelling try. He definitely still has wheels. Hasn't lost his speed to the same degree JOC (James O'Connor) has.

If I was a coach of an opposing team with Beale at the back it would be ‘ bombs away’ !

If you want a cheap NRL fullback maybe Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is a realystic option. I'm not sure but he's probably elegible for Straya or at least he's going to be elegible very soon. Do u like him? lol

Also you can turn a skilled League player into an Union fullback like Folau who used to be a winger/centre in League. KB (Kurtley Beale) lost his starter spot in Wallabies against a NRL winger

You have to talk with that lads to know who are real patriots who want to play for their country in a World Cup. I heard that Ponga is a diehard All Blacks supporter lol

Not sure it's fair to call Folau an 'NRL winger' - the bloke was a freak athlete, played in the centres as well. He was just most effective in the NRL when playing on the wing or centre because of his aerial ability.

A freak athlete and RA lost him lol

Folau playing at the wing in the All Blacks would have smashed any Rugby record at international level

It's cute how you think that is what they actually make.
I'm pretty sure that Josh receives a BIG payment from Puma as Folau in his prime from Asics. Pretty sure about it, with sponsors the profits are higher.

P.S: You recruited me, some years ago, as a reporter for Jaguares games. Do u remember it?
