Beale is a 2nd playmaker\poacher and can do that from 15. Also Hunt is as good a playmaker/opportunity hunter/communicator as To'omua etc

Both gives us plenty of options

One big difference, without dissing Beale, Hunt can be an awesome defender and is enthusiastic talking at the line on fronting up. Personally, with the style of rugby I like to watch, for the big games and a general “style strategy” I want to see Foley Beale and Hunt on the paddock. Think finals in that statement.

Then set up your rotation and development with that ultimate goal.

interesting that Mitch Short gets another start over Gordon, but I'm sure the actual game time is pretty much shared.

I think Lachie Swinton could be a darkhorse this year. I think his dimensions are similar to Ned's but from what I've seen (only really NRC) he plays a harder game. Obviously the Tahs have extreme depth in the backrow, but I'll be watching if he gets a shot.

I liked the look of Swinton during the NRC. I hope he gets a run with some players rested throughout the year. A solid looking bloke with a harder running game

It is a shame that the stream last week was so poor, the Tahs were actually playing quite well in the first couple of 20 minute half IMO. I could not quite make out who was who so unsure who had a good game and who didn't.

Not too bothered about the score in trial games but I am always keen to see the wider squad play, glad that the line up is pretty much the same

Hope there is a stream this week which is better. Would love to see more of our younger players

Interesting to see Woolf (non-contracted) getting another go - deserves a crack.

Is Ramm injured? What about Suttor?

Agreed, and Beale at his best at 12 for the Tahs has been that 2nd 15 who moves and calls for the ball when he sees the opportunity

Shame not to see Hunt and Izzy team up again

I'm 1000% behind giving Hunt a red hot got at 12. Beale at 15 and Izzy to the wing. Beale defends in the back 3 already and has experience so should be fine. Him and Izzy hanging back for the high balls and counter attacking is what you want. Hunt is far too good at organising a defensive line to not be there. Gibson said defense is his biggest change area to focus on this year and Beale at 12 is not part of that if you're being honest. Beale could get away at 12 5 years ago but the tactics and player size has moved to a point where a small 10/12 pair is not an option. If Andy Farrell was I could live with Beale at 10 but you need a legit front line defender at either 10 or 12.

Yes I think Hunt better option at 12 as just not convinced Beale's best position is 12 and agree would be better at 15 with more open space. He crabs too much at 12 where does not have such luxury of more open space and for me contributes to our faltering attack.

Fan of Hunt for both his defence and link play in attack and think he is a perfect 12 for the modern day game.

But given Foley likely to depart after world cup we don't have clear replacement lined up for him. Agree don't want to ever see Beale at 10 again as yes as schoolboy played 10 but too long between drinks and attempt to make him a ten not had any success.

Mason seems unlikely to be able to step up to level required so not sure who would be heir apparent for 10 next season assuming as many predict Foley buggers off to Europe to get his big pay check.
