But given Foley likely to depart after world cup we don't have clear replacement lined up for him. Agree don't want to ever see Beale at 10 again as yes as schoolboy played 10 but too long between drinks and attempt to make him a ten not had any success.

Mason seems unlikely to be able to step up to level required so not sure who would be heir apparent for 10 next season assuming as many predict Foley buggers off to Europe to get his big pay check.

Regarding Mason I am happy that he has had time to cool his jets in SS rather than be another Jake McIntyre (thrown to the wolves too early and spat out)

I think it is hard to judge some units purely on their SS form, some look average at SS level, but excel at S rugby, others have peaked at SS

Mason? He looked quite good playing S rugby so far

"I'm going to tell my big brother."

"Hmmph. What's his name?"

"Shambeckler."

"Please don't. I'm sorry. Here's fifty bucks, please, I beg you."

Is it me or does Mason look like he is shovelling it along? Admittedly I haven’t watched the whole trial game.

I thought that as well, Harrison straightens the attack but still looks a little nervy on penalty kicks etc.

Jaysus this could be a long year if we can't get parity at scrum time. Around the park and lineout should be OK but the Brums must have clocked up 150m of territory from scrum penalties off which they scored at least 2 tries from the resulting line out. Other than that some promising signs!

Missing a few tonight but a few kids stood up. The big issue like the last few years is lack of go forward.

Took a while for Holloway to get into the team last year and Latu sent 2/3 of the season not even on the bench for some unknown reason. Regardless I think you're right. No first rate ball runners to get us over the gain line 9/10 times. Still, more concerned about the scrum. They all looked quite fit and ready to go but we got worked over far too easily at scrum time and Latu and Kepu can't turn that around single handedly, especially when you consider Kepu will have his game time restricted as a Wallaby. Hopefully this Le Roux Roets bloke works out in the second row. When he was on he towered over everyone else.

Sorry I meant in the trial. Tahs forwards struggled with go Forward last year with Kepu, Holloway and Latu

With the return of Latu, Fitzpatrick Kepu, Simmons and Hooper the scrum (and line outs) will be vastly improved. Yes they will be rested at some point but all teams will have that dilemma. I wasn’t impressed with Roets for the short time he was on, he didn’t look fit to me. It was very much out B team so I’m not overly concerned about losing by 6 in a trial. We could have done with less injuries but it’s not all doom and gloom

I think he played well also but he did shovel the ball a lot, he needs to take the ball to the line a bit more IMO. I was actually quite happy with the performance from the wider squad. That was basically a Brumbies first 15.

Hunt looked good at 12, ACC looked very good when he came on and I must admit I wasn't too thrilled when he signed for 2019 but his experience will come in handy.

Bring on the Hurricanes!
