Allianz has great seating but the service is crap. It's not an exaggeration to say it can take up to 20 minutes to get a beer. Next door at the SCG which is run by the same mob is substantially better. They have just poured over $250m into it to improve it in the last few years. The stands are fantastic and the service is much better. The SCG is the best stadium in NSW.
Very little has been done to improve Allianz since it was opened in 1988. The most notable change to the stadium was changing the seating colour on the eastern side so it spells Allianz. Wow!

Keep in mind that a Swans game is three hours, so queues aren't an issue due to smoothing the curve. Rugby doesn't do that very well, being jammed into two shorter phases of play

The big decline in crowds starts about 2008/09 and nothing much has changed in the Sydney sporting landscape since then. Swans crowds and NRL crowds are round about the same

Swans crowds will get better one they finish with the new build.

There was an interesting article in SMH today on Rugby League and stadia outcomes from games with all NSW NRL teams canvassed. Detailing revenue and expenditure for games. This may show some similarities to this strand of the thread relating to SCG Trust. You could probably equate Waratahs with Sydney Roosters. While South Sydney is the gold standard.

The good part is you can go get a pie and a beer and feel like you haven't missed anything.

Plus the dollars per minute is favourable over Rugby

I'm sure if attractive winning rugby was played we wouldn't be complaining about the ground and catering.
People go to watch rugby, let's get quality rugby, get the winning feeling, get the crowds and I think the decorations to the night out will fall into place.

Imagine how long it would take to get a beer if there was more than 15,000 people there!

Let's consistently get more than 20k there then.
You generally see businesses staffing their business to peak periods / or patronage requirements.
You don't see all counters of McDonalds attended by staff at 3pm in the afternoon in hope people will come. But I'm sure if patrons increased at 3pm they would make the required adjustments.

We need to focus on the game and start winning attractively and not the catering, I'm sure if people walked through the gates adjustments could / would be made.

You need it quicker? Get 'em to use Qkr (and order via your phone).

Qkr (pronounced quicker) is being trialled in Melbourne.

Etihad Stadium pilots QkR app
In collaboration with MasterCard and Commonwealth Bank, Etihad Stadium is trialing a new app that enables fans to avoid queues and cash exchanges when buying food and drinks.
The QkR app is being introduced into one section of Etihad Stadium’s membership groups, enabling up to 5,000 fans to order food and drinks, simply by downloading an app onto their smartphone, scanning or typing in the QR code on their seat, and ordering from an on-screen menu. By using the QkR digital wallet technology on their phone, food and beverage orders will then be delivered by Etihad catering staff.
Etihad Stadium’s CEO, Paul Sergeant says the move is in line with the growing requirements of patrons. “Fans can drive into an underground car park on a wet day, take a lift to their seat, watch the game under the comfort of a roof, oblivious to the weather, and now order and purchase food and beverage without leaving their seats,” he says.
QkR will be piloted at Etihad Stadium with Axcess One Premium members. This is the first that the time-saving mobile app will be used in a stadium environment.

Stangely, at the SFS the bigger the crowd, the faster the service. More staff, more outlets open. We're currently operating almost minimum crowd level, the next step for the SCGT would be to close parts of the ground to cut down on staff and cleaning if our crowds fall further.

I hear they had about 3,000 at Rat Park yesterday and that will be at least doubled next week at Manly Oval. (Fine day 6-8,000 I reckon)

Makes 15,000 for the Waratahs embarrassing in a city of 4 million.

Not an easy question to answer. SCG/SFS members don't pay on the night/day, but do pay an upfront fee, so I'd count them as paying customers. There's about 7 or 8 thousand Waratah members I think, si I reckon about 12 or 13 of the 15 thousand would be taken up in those 2 batches of members. Not sure how many freebies the Waratahs give out - in the past SS clubs were given an allocation to pass on to members and/or juniors.

So in our 15,000 crowds, I wouldn't expect that many of them to be buying an individual ticket to the games.

Back in the halcyon days with 35K crowds, getting a beer was no worse (actually the beer itself may have been better too) for exactly the reason @Dave Beat says - if the punters show, they'll put more staff on.

Some quick figures (cant guarantee accuracy) - Tahs attract 0.35% population (Sydney not NSW) to games in the heart land of RU. Brumbies have attracted 4.75% of total ACT population (Tah's V Brumbies 2014 I think), Reds - I believe this years best crowd is about 30,000 which is 1.46% (Brisbane population not QLD). Even using the Reds claim of 36000 members its still only 1.76%.
