Nice that foxsports as broadcasters of superugby couldn't bring the press conference at all yet can cross to afl at the drop of a hat despite it having its own channel.

Good luck to Cheika. He's done well in his career since he coached Randwick and his stint at Leinster is revered over there.

He's going to need some luck. There is a whiff of Stade Francais about the Waratahs and neither McKenzie nor Cheika could push the shit uphill in Paris.

We've been here before haven't we? One day, one of the changes is going to work. Let's hope it is with this coach.
.
If only the Tahs could have Stade pre match entertainment.

Now that Cheika has been appointed is there any likelihood of a player cleanout or will he wait a year to make an assessment of the team before making any radical personnel changes? Have the Tahs got any spots open other than Rocky being parachuted back in? I thought they had announced their squad for 2013.

We currently have 28 people contracted for next season with the EPS still to be confirmed (although it would appear that Matt Lucas and Sam Lane make up two spots of it).

The player cleanout has already happened. Everyone else is either a new signing or on an existing contract.

Great News. It has been back and forth over the past few months and that usually means that the Tahs will not get their man.
This is very good for NSW and Australian rugby.

'Ollie's stand-out feature is his work rate and the impact he has around the ground,'' assistant coach Scott Bowen said.
''He's a reasonable ball carrier, he hits a lot of breakdowns, makes his tackles and is pretty effective with his scrummaging and lineout work.''

Atkins joins Uni teammate Michael Hodge, Wallabies breakaway Michael Hooper and former Brumbies fullback Cam Crawford as one of four new faces in the Waratahs squad for next year. The province has until December to secure its 30th full-time squad member, and starts negotiations tomorrow on the make-up of its five-man extended playing squad.

High on its wishlist are understood to be Australian Sevens halfback Matt Lucas, Southern Districts fullback Ben Volavola, Southern Districts second-rower Jed Holloway, Reds five-eighth Sam Lane and Melbourne Rebels hooker Luke Holmes

I was at the presser, and saw two very interesting things.

1: Michael Cheika was holding Rocky Elsom's book close together with his notes.
2: A yellow toyota with the number plate 'FNATIC' was parked outside.

hmmm.

I feel enthused:
‘‘My immediate goal is to establish our identity loud and clear, inside and outside of the team; who we are, how we are going to play the game and what we are prepared to do to earn the respect of our teammates, our supporters and our competitors, as individuals and as a team.
‘‘By achieving this we will earn the right to think about getting some good results.’’

So is Rocky going to be the 30th squad member?

Are they going to give him playing attire or just a Waratahs double breasted suit?

I hope the medicals and fitness tests are really thorough.

Hmmmm indeed.

Was there any questions, answers, announcements or discussion regarding any other personnel changes such as Managers, assistant coaches, specialist coaches, 'Tahs Board Members?

How were the pies?

Weren't any pies, Georgina Robinson was on the job, not Gregory. He spoke a lot about affirming a culture and game plan that everyone was a part of and ensuring that everyone was on the same page. He also said that while his roots are in attacking rugby, he needs to "find a balance between styles". He also said that in order to win big games he believes you must score tries.
