Doubt Turner will start, he's only played 30 minutes of Shute Shield rugby, will probably get 80 this weekend and come off the bench

7. Alcock/Jenkins (is J injured?)

Jenkins was replaced by young Stu Goodman for the last 30 minutes of the game against the Woodies. Jenkins didnt seem to be injured, just a straight replacement. The young lad held his own against McCaffrey and Alcock, particularly considering he played colts the day before.

Foley's made his presentation to the Board.

The Waratahs have announced they have also made 2 additions to the board.

Story here

So the Board has done such a sterling job, they have seen fit to add two more members to it.

The fish rots from the head so who's going to review the performance of the board?

It seems they are law unto themselves.

They are lucky they don't face a vote from the members.

Did I read that correctly? They increased the size of the board, but didn't elloborate why.

Michael Miller, that's not Mike Miller the former CEO of the IRB is it? Surely not

Edit: no its not

Mr Miller is Regional Director, News NSW, and former President of South Australian Rugby. Mr Davis, former Waratah and Wallaby, is Consulting Director at Rothschild Australia Limited, past Chair of Charterhall Office Management, and currently holds a number of other non-Executive Board positions.

Roger Davis, eh? Now there was a bloke who could jump in a line out. Used to get pinged regularly because refs didn't believe he could get up that high without being lifted.

I'm not sure what the hell two dead rubber games are supposed to tell the board that the rest of the season hasn't. (But nor do I understand why Foley was required to give a season review before the end of the season, but hey). If the board have their eyes on another coach, they should line him up and be ready to give Foley the ass at the end of the season, even if the Tahs kick the butts of the Reds and the Brumbies. If Foley goes out a winner, so be it. Otherwise, keep him around for the rest of his contract.

Instead, this looks to me like typical ass-covering. They look like they're doing something by making him front up to the board, but then they cover themselves in case the Tahs are awesome for two games which can then serve as a justification for the status quo.

I guess my feeling is simple: either Foley should coach or he should not. Two games aren't gonna tell us anything that the rest of the season hasn't.

Even we win the next two games 13+ it shouldn't change what has happened thus far

no, but it does o_O

The Tahs lost their outside attacking threat before the season started and as such lost their ability to get those scores.

Losing Mitchell & Turner changed the way the side could attack and score tries (and Beale) getting one or both back and asking questions will go a bit of the way towards seeing what might have been

My actual complaint is is more about squad selection and the lack of real good, young dangerous back ups. Who are they except Kingston?

He ought to McCaffrey and Goodman were both in the same Gordon Juniors team. Alcock also been a bit of mentor for Goodman through Barker etc.

Lachie turner has some good things to say in the SMH (good as in giving some insight into what's gone wrong) wish the Tahs would let players with his ability to communicate actually do so more often.

''We'd had a certain balance in the team over the last couple of years and that's been disrupted and it's brought a heap of new challenges,'' he said.
''Tommy Carter is a great example - he'd always had Drew Mitchell and Kurtley Beale outside him who were bossing him around, seeing space and telling him what to do and he was thriving on that.
''Rob Horne's the same - he's suddenly had to look for space and not just be an outside running back. He had to start bossing the team around a little more. Those little ripples have turned into waves in the team.''

Telegraph 29/6/2012 Foley explains;
  • Most demanding schedule in history.
  • Unrivaled workload.
  • difference between test level and those below was to great to mask.
Are the Waratahs playing in a different super comp, havent all 15 teams encountered the same schedule, and a similar 3 test series.
Excuses such as these do not build the right culture, and what if your not a test player you have to where a mask or something.
Not saying this is Foley's fault, if the board excepted these explanations they are just as responsible - it flows down.

Culture, and Attitude.

"They're not excuses for performances we're unsatisfied with this year, but we do acknowledge there is a requirement for us to alter what we're doing to service the needs of the players better."

Not sure were he protested to much, he has a point with the reason he gave, I'm sure he has others to.

The guy has been asked to justify his job,I'm not sure what you expect him to say. He says he is unhappy with the year, not that it's acceptable due to the reasons he gave.

I guess when people on here are called into there bosses office and asked why they did something, they just list reasons they shouldn't have their job.

WJ I am supporter that does not boo and always turns up - the culture and attitude frustrates me - there may have been some jorno twist but comments or thoughts such as that breeds poor attitude.
All teams are in the same comp and have the same demands.
Change of somthing is required.

What comments? The fact that after reviewing the season he felt that the injuries his players picked up during the extended test schedule resulted in a need for the Tahs to offer more medical services?

If you read only the quotes there is nothing there to suggest a bad attitude at all.

I again say, your listening to a man that has been asked by his bosses to justify his position, a position he wants to keep. How the hell do you want him to go about that?
