I really doubt Holmes will be starting at 12. Dont think he has the defensive capabilities to be a regular starter there but having him on the bench means the Tahs can go a 5-2 bench quite easily.

Besides havent any of you read about the new Tom Carter. Reinventing himself as an attacking, ball playing speedster.

Still a long way away but I can see us ending up with:

Burgo
Hangers
Horne
Carter
Tahu
Mitchell
Beale

Mitchell 15, Beale 12 is what I reckon.
I suspect it will be a backline that will put the fear into....
"Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?..."

The Rumours are starting

My brother got this through his Eels connections:

"The word is that Parra will release Inu to the Tigers and sign Tahu for 2010."

and fatso from todays SMH

Tahs talk of joining Ewen

No wonder the Waratahs are worried about a fifth Australian team. Even if it is not based in Sydney's west, they will lose players because of the Ewen McKenzie factor. R&M has been told that no fewer than four high-profile Waratahs have intimated they will leave NSW and join up with the fifth team if McKenzie coached the new franchise. Several notable Waratahs, and we are not talking fringe players, are unimpressed with the current NSW coaching and management structure. We hear the relationship between some players and the Waratahs' head office is virtually non-existent. And don't be surprised if two members of the Australian under-20s team that played recently at the World Cup head to a prominent Irish club soon.

so now everyone is leaving to join ewen?

honestly, before he left, didnt they write that he and the players had fallen out?

i guess you can have it both ways.
horne and beale would be my picks, ewen backed them no matter what hickey has benched them and moved them positions at times.

i think chris hickey was a cut price settle for option. surely the tahs would be eyeing off another coach for 2011.
dont know who is available, but if les kiss wants to come back i would take him in a heatbeat!

the tahs look like the best candidate for the new franchise to get a good group of payers from though. most of there players are only on one or two year contracts, will be primed for offers come the end of next year.

I can't remember player issues with Link, but I can remember management issues.

before he left, him and the leadership group wernt talking, and everyone was leaving unless they got a new coach, which is why management sacked him remember phil waugh failing to mention him in his speech at the final.

this is comical!

Tahu back to the Eels:

Rugby Union convert Timana Tahu will return to the NRL next season after agreeing to a three-year deal with his old club Parramatta this week.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Tahu and the Eels finalised negotiations on Monday, with the shock switch to be formally announced later this week.

The 29-year-old finished his rugby league career at Parramatta in 2007 after signing a four-year deal with the ARU worth nearly $2 million.

Not totally suprising.

Yep:

Timana Tahu quits rugby union to return to the NRL with the Eels

July 22, 2009 Rugby Union convert Timana Tahu will return to the NRL next season after agreeing to a three-year deal with his old club Parramatta this week.

Tahu and the Eels finalised negotiations on Monday, with the shock switch to be formally announced later this week.

The 29-year-old finished his rugby league career at Parramatta in 2007 after signing a four-year deal with the ARU worth nearly $2 million.

But the switch has not been an enjoyable one for the Newcastle junior, who has spent much of this year’s Super 14 competition on the bench for the Waratahs and failed to claim a start with the Wallabies.

Speculation arose earlier this season that Tahu was poised to join the Roosters, but he denied a return to league was on the cards.

Unbeknown to most, however, was a get-out clause in his ARU contract that enabled Tahu to leave at the end of this season.

He has decided to exploit that clause with Parramatta.

His signing is a further coup for the club, which recently snared representative props Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton and has began negotiations to wrap up in-form superstar Jarryd Hayne for another three years.

Still, its a bit more mungo money saved.

Bad luck. They are (all but) signed.

Josh Holmes to be Tahs 12? Beale to 15, Mitchells to wing.

I assumed so (all but),

Holmes at 12? maybe, he has looked OK for Waringah. Holmes is an athlete, not a footballer, but he at least tackles at 12.

Tom Carter's non dimensional play may be a chance as Hickey seems to be a fanboy. :'(

Andrew Smith is trialling for a contract with the ACT Brumbies on their tour of France but may have better opportunities at the Tahs.

Today's pieman

Queensland Reds winger Digby Ioane is believed to be on the Waratahs wish-list. Berrick Barnes was also recently approached by the Waratahs, but is expected to remain with the Reds.

Man, for a state that develops so much rugby "talent", your first thought is grab a Queenslander to do the job, isn't it?

I'd be ashamed to be a New South Welshman.

Just because no-one wants to move to QLD, you needn't try to make a virtue of it.

I assume that there was some version of this post in your head that actually made sense?

Not nearly as ashamed as a Queenslander should be for their pathetic performances on the field the last seven years. You see, fos, we in New South Wales don't go about our business bearing a grudge or with a chip on shoulder.

Get your rugby up to speed before slinging off at us. I challenge you to make Queensland rugby so desirable blokes like Barnes, Brown, Chapman, Heenan, Ioane, Moore, JOC (James O'Connor), Pocock, et al don't want to leave. As I've stated before, I'll die a happy man after reading about Queensland's most successful season: winning the Super title after losing to the Tahs along the way.

I think you'll find we've already had a few Super seasons where we won the title, and beat the Tahs.
