Hmm, that isn't a great record is it? haha.

For some reason I thought otherwise. I'll still back em in.

Can't have you Tahs supporters, getting too excited.

To be far in their early years they won about half their games over there, just recently they've gone poorly, lost their last 5 too.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is ripping and making a heap of line breaks , getting tempted to lock him in at 13 , and work the backline around him , probably need a kicker / ball player inside ,, To'omua ? would not play him out of position like wing , too many specialists , if not 13 then off the bench for impact . Really worrying the way the Brumbies got bashed up by the saders , i was getting a whiff we might be competitive but still a few levels of toughness required

FFS why would the Tahs/ARU not resign Douglas?!?! In the past 12 months we've lost Timani / Douglas and Pyle. We are one injured lock away from playing fuckin rookies at the world cup.

I know the stats suggest that Douglas should be down the pecking order, but surely McKenzie and the ARU must have some type of plan as to the players that will be needed for the world cup. Surely McKenzie is canvassed when trying to determine whether players need to be retained for the world cup.

Why spent time and effort blooding young test players if they are just going to fuck off?!

Well that leaves us with 2 locks with test experience (plus Fardy who hasn't played at lock for the wallabies). We need to blood 2 new locks as a matter of absolute priority, - Jones and Skelton.

EDIT - Guys like Douglas and Mowen are making a mockery of the ARU eligibility rules. The ARU brings them into the fold and then they just use their test status as leverage to sign overseas.

On the flipside, that Test status sees you selected, then sit behind people who are less deserving. At that point a NH club comes with a decent offer, what are you going to do as a 25yo bloke who has lived rugby since he was a teenager?

NH clubs don't just front up with money for duds. How many tight five players from Australian Super Rugby are on the market and look tasty up there, when they've got big domestic competitions producing grunters every year?

Certainly AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is making it impossible not to have him in the starting XV. He is playing very well every week.

Link will either need to choose whether he puts AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 13 and Kuridrani on the bench or Kuridrani 13, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 14.

Either way, it's very hard to see AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the form he's in not being picked in the starting XV.

Can't blame Mowen too much as he's pushing the twilight of his career and it's time to make some dollars. However Douglas & Pyle are still young with good chances to play for the wallabies so their choice seems purely fiscal. There is an argument they're both down the pecking order now and they could come back better players, but the reality is they're getting paid more in Europe and are getting in now before the inevitable RWC exodus. It's a professional sport and until we can get reach something resembling parity with the Euro club pay packets then it will continue. Hopefully the new S18 TV deal means more money and higher salary caps to compete.

I suspect that Jones, Skelton and Carter will probably be getting some test time this year, maybe not all against France though. Hell, this is fast becoming a crisis so maybe even Wykes, Neville or another wild card might get a chance if there are injuries. Having only two out of form locks with any meaningful amount of caps come the RWC is very dangerous.

I agree with this, Maybe we need to also Try Fardy at Lock, to see if he cuts the mustard at Test level as a Lock..

I do wonder who is the backup lineout caller at the Brumbies?

Particularly as Mowen is gone next year...... it's surely got to be either Fardy or Carter?

I say leave Fardy at 6. We only really have Fardy and Higgers to play 6 at the RWC. Perhaps McCalman.

Some thinking outside the box with selections will be needed for the Wallabies to take out the WC next year. It is essential to find and blood some new talent, perhaps play them off the bend this year in the June tests / Tri Nations and on the EOY tour. If we stay and recycle the same guys we won't go anywhere at the WC.

We can debate about who those new selections could be but we need some players that whilst not the best at their positions yet, have a big upside potential who will flourish surrounded by veteran support.

Cottrell is a hard guy to fit in. I don't remember him being a jumper for the Force so unless you play a good jumper at 8 it is risky business.

I don't think Skelton could cut the mustard at Test level. The only situation I would feel comfortable with would be Fardy at 6 so that the bench backrower could come on if a second rower was injured in the first half and Fardy could go to lock. I can't see Skelton being any good for longer than 20 minutes at Test level.

Luke Jones will be there without question.

Adam Coleman has looked really good. He needs to continue to impress with the game time he gets. It would also help if he got some experience calling line-outs.

I haven't watched enough of Sam Carter to make a fair comment. He must be doing a fair bit right though.

Cotrell has 19 lineout wins which is more than Douglas and 2 behind Dennis he is fine as a lineout option.

Just thought I would have a look at how many penalties Simmons has given away with everyone taking about how much of a penalty magnet he is I was surprised to see he has only given away 10 this year which is the same amount as Horwill that has them as equal 21st in the comp.

Was also interesting to see to two players who sit at the top of that list.......Higgers and Fardy with 18 and 17 a piece food for thought.
