So Fainga'a, Slipper. Moore and Palmer in for McCabe, Robonson, Nau and Kepu? You're on drugs. Those guys just won a famous test match. The others lost against Scotland. Next.
I made a mistake, I meant Fainga'a for Horne. Moore was the man of the match against Scotland and I think an all round better performer than TPN. The props could go either way, I'm just not much of a Robinson fan and I thought Palmer was an excellent performer against Scotland.

Like a lot of others, I had massive misgivings about the Wallabies tonight, but I have to take my hat off to their response. They were gutsy and smart at the same time. The halves were everything they needed to be tonight and took great options, Genia in particular. For me, though, the foundation of this win was the forward play in the loose. For the first time in a long time against high quality opposition, I saw a willingness to commit numbers to the breakdown, run a column of big bodies through there and clean out. The result was Genia had an armchair ride and the ball was quick. The first and last tries were ample testament to that. The pick and drive around the fringes a couple of times was great too.

We tired in the late stages, but I'll forgive the boys for that. Some of these fellas were playing for the third time in a week. There will be some sore bodies in the morning I'm sure. We could have been more accurate, but I'll take a win like that any day of the week considering the prep and the disaster of Tuesday night.

It was pretty much as expected except that our attack was not as limited as I thought it would be. This was mainly due to a gritty and committed performance from our pack at the breakdown and subsequently excellent service from Genia. We were always going to match the Welsh here, or better them, if the Wallabies turned up to play.
Many doubted BB going into the match, including me. But he put on a vintage display and showed he still belongs at the highest level. There are not too many more courageous players running around today! However, I would like to see him at 12 outside Beale or Cooper with McCabe at 13.
There is still much to do and a lot of improvement in this side. I do not think this changes the need for Deans to be replaced by McKenzie after this series, win or lose.
Next week I would also like to see Moore start as well as Douglas with TPN and Simmons on the bench.
Hooper! This bloke is going to be special. It is good to know that if Poey goes down, god forbid, that we have a replacement where we will not lose too much.
A little much needed faith has been restored.
Wales played well in parts but were not expecting that level of intensity from the Wallabies. Surprisingly, they lacked direction in attack.
Great test to watch!

It was good to watch the Wallabies come back after Tuesday but when Wales scored so many unanswered points and got to 19-20 I had the "watching the Waratahs" feeling I had at the ground in Newcastle.

I thought Wales would win this one before the match, but like the Wallabies on their EOYTs they were rusty in the first game, especially playing at the high tempo in the first half.

But at oranges I thought the Wobs would be all over them in the 2nd half and win; all the more so when Genia scored a try to savour for a long time. Then, bugger me, the 6N champs Wales started playing and it was the Wobs that wobbled. Had Wales not spilled the pill once near the Oz 22 on an unforced error, they could have won it.

The McCabe try was well executed: the decoy fixed the tacklers and McCabe had aimed himself between the defenders well before he got the ball. He can do that 20 times and not get the score but we criticise him for the other 19 runs when defenders aren't fixed. Importantly, he got the pass flat to the gap.

The Wales try before that was scarcely less admirable: Cuthbert ran flat out besides the tackled Beck and the pass from the ground was right on the money. A lot of things could have gone wrong in that move, including deceleration of the receiver scared of over-running the pass, but it worked a treat.

Cuthbert, the successor to Shane Willams, finished the northern season strongly and has a lot more in him on this tour. It was a pity that the other winger, North, was injured, but his recent club form was not as good, and neither was that of 10. Priestland who was going through a trough of average play in the late club games I saw. This form was continued in the test match but it's early days.

8. Faletau had a quiet game with the hard hits coming in tandem to stop him, and so did his protagonist, Palu for Oz. Ryan Jones, the ex-Wales captain was more impressive when he came off the bench. Lock Brad Davies was one of Wales' best forwards. He played with a lot more energy than I have noticed from him in test matches. He did a lot of work, not all of it legally executed; mind you Sharpe got away with rugby murder in a couple of mauls.

I have nothing much to say about Genia or Ioane except that they are our point of difference in that form. Without them we will be well back in the pack.

I'm sure that others will have given Hooper some praise. His energy and being where he had to be to make an effect was exceptional.

Horwill is missed. Sharpie is priceless as a lineout quarterback but I wouldn't mind seeing one of the young locks, Douglas or Pyle, getting a gig to step up the energy.

Joubert was quite good. He should have pinged Oz more for coming into the side of the rucks to protect their ball, but no doubt Wales was just as bad.

Obviously it was not a game to beat the All Blacks how they played against Ireland but it is a step in the right direction.

Agree with swapping TPN for Moore. I would also consider swapping Palu for Dennis, dropping Harris all together and going to a 5/2 split. Lucas to come in for white to help this option. Douglas or Neville onto the bench.

Horne to the bench for Fa'ainga. His point of difference is meant to be attack but I could not see Fa'ainga butchering that try as he isn't a selfish player. Shipperley in for Vuna.

1 robbo
2 Moore
3 kepu
4 Simmons
5 sharpe
6 Dennis
7 pocock
8 higgers
9 genia
10 Barnes
11 Ioane
12 McCabe
13 Fa'ainga
14 Shipperley
15 AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

TPN, Alexander, Douglas/Neville, Palu, Hooper, Lucas, Horne.

Changes are unlikely to occur though. Scheduling has given the tahs players involved a big advantage.

I have to say the one player who I thought was below par last night was Rob Simmons. I will admit I have never been a huge fan of his, but I loved his stint off the bench against Scotland and had high hoped for him against the Welsh. Sadly he missed a couple of tackles and made little impact with ball in hand.

How often has Lucas played halfback in recent years?

Keep White on the bench.......

Genia was excellent last night, but whether he can back that up 2 weeks in a row needs to be seen. If not, then White can come on in the last 10-15 minutes. It was disappointing that Deans didn't give him the last few minutes after the game was well and truly won.

Moore in for TPN. No other changes. Not needed.

A case could be made to bring in Palmer for Kepu, but I'd like to see Kepu have another crack in a first choice front row.

I wouldn't mind seeing another lock have a crack. Shame Pyle isn't in the squad?

My team also forgot about Beale's return from injury. He might be left for another week now?

Dennis definitely deserves a shot over Palu in the starting lineup, but it won't happen if he is lock and loosie cover.

Hard to pinpoint the worst problem with your post, Biggsy.
1. Personal abuse is not tolerated.
2. As others have point out, Bill = the RWC
3. Barbarian is the admin, so perhaps he'll have to talk to himself
4. You've deadset murdered the English language so hard, I'm not entirely sure what you meant.
Neck up, indeed.

Just a warning for the abuse. Greatest punishment seems self inflicted

On the Horne "butchered try" I wonder why we didn't see the front end shot. I would have liked to see what was actually happening and whether it was actually a poor decision, him being blindsided or a Welsh hand. Again we don't attack beyond the 12 channel - ever so the Horne vs Faainga decision is on attacking prowess is a bit mute

I would be surprised to see Sharpe ready for next week, he looked pretty bashed, so a starting lock could be required. Timani I guess, if he is fit. If he is not fit Douglas or Neville are left, personally Douglas is a more complete TH lock today, but Neville is an athletic talent.

We also need a new wing, Vuna simply needs more time to understand the positional play of rugby

Moore for Nau, fair enough, we just need both there for 80 minutes. The drop in standard to the next rung is immense

Two of the real positives for the game were the front football we were allowed and the work off the ball for McCabe's try. Just look at Barnes and his outside runners work/effort to create the space for Genia to hit McCabe on the inside line

I am a huge fan of his, but am getting frustrated at what I am percieving as apparent laziness, he seems to be last to a ruck and just has a bit of a lean unless it it is vital to clear out, he also appears to run lines that are too distant from genia for him to actually get the ball and have to take a hit.
This seems to happen when he is playing with little pressure. He seems to think that if he is starting a game he is assured of his spot and can take it easy, if he is fighting for his spot from the bench he is a different player. I hate to call players lazy at this level but I cant think of another word to describe what I am seeing.

I think he is certainly a huge talent, and is capable of lots of things, but he really needs a really hard slap and a big rev up about his attitude. Show him some highlights of Tuesday night and last night and ask him to point out the difference between the two and really scare the shit out of him that he is going to lose his spot.

He is only young, but if he doesn't show improvement soon he will always just be a fringe player.

Is he a better player when he calls the lineouts and has some responsibility???

the commentators did not describe it as a butchered try, it was great defence. This really annoyed me to no end. Call what is happening

If Beale is fit for the next game robbie could move barnes to 12, McCabe to 13 and drop horne. But even that is a compromised line up as barnes doesn't have the impact running game at 12.

The only Australian I can think of who has the running and passing game to play 12 is JOC (James O'Connor) and maybe Tapuai. I think McCabe would be much better suited to 13.
