Uelese must be unreal in training to get the pick over Latu.

I reckon they're probably giving Latu a bit longer to get over his injury. They rushed Kerevi back in and it didn't really work. Maybe told Latu to have a couple more weeks in the NRC to get his match fitness back.

Uelese makes sense from transitional play as well as the fact that he's a bloody good lad.

Moore is "already gone", and Taf surely won't be far behind.

With Hanson having fallen off a cliff since moving down to the Rebs, Latu (by form and age/experience) looms as the logical number 1, but he needs more than an out of form Ready backing him up.

Capping Uelese 3 or 4 times while the first 2 are still around sets him up well for next season, when he's potentially playing the ABs as the outright 2nd option: rather than being that option with a single cap on the EOYT.

Your criticisms seem devoid of ideas.

Who would you have? There aren't really many players knocking on the door.

Talking backs only
The Hodge move is ok, minimal disruption & stays with the 2 fullback tactic.
I would start Koriobete in place of Speight. Big fast and hungry.
I would give Powell another shot on the bench instead of Phipps
Rona or Kerevi are ok but not both.
I would add Meakes, gives you flexibility with your playmakers.
Meakes and Korobete were both fantastic on the weekend NRC.

When you say not many players knocking on the door, I don't think it matters, Chek just plays the same guys unless there is an injury.

So he's gone for mobility over size for the loosies. I know Timani has the size but he hasn't been using it very well. Not really keen on Hanigan having to go off and Dempsey coming on though.

It will be worth comparing physiques of the back row. Waiting for the Safers. Our blokes:

6. Hanigan 194cm; 110kg
7. Hooper 182 cm; 101kg
8. McMahon 186cm; 100kg

Total ------------------ 311kg

20. Dempsey 191cm; 109kg

Match up Safers later.

Or McMahon getting injured in the first 10 and having to play Dempsey for 70.

Id put Meakes on the bench over Kerevi, but otherwise disagree with just about all of it. Is Koroibete even bigger than Speight? Phipps has shown consistently than he is good off the bench. Powell is underdone.

Have said it previously, but Mostert looks to be the best lineout operator since Victor Matfield, and Etzebeth is hardly a shrinking violet either. I can see we will be in trouble at lineout time, so I expect the Saffas to kick for touch quite frequently confident of their abilities to either steal the lineout possession or at least disrupt it. I really think Cheika doesn't look at the opposition's strong and weak points when picking his side, just goes with his favourites in the light blue jerseys.

Yeah Phipps is good, but change it up a bit keep everyone hungry, the difference is not huge. Same with Koroibete and Speight. I was surprised how big he was, I thought he was more nuggety, Speights quick but I would guess Koroibete is quicker.
Don't you think Hodge should be on?

All pretty spot on but Dempsey..dunno how he's earnt the bench spot. Maybe NRC?

Dempsey hasn't played NRC this year.

But perhaps Timani played himself out of the squad with his NRC form?

Killer, from Wikipedia:

Speight 1.86m and 97 kg;
Koroibete 1.8m and 93 kg.

Speight is marginally the bigger, and imo plays bigger. Koroibete might be the faster.

Very different strengths and weaknesses. I stress that I have not been glued to the box during the Soup, but Koroibete looks like a classic finisher to me, whereas Speight can bash it up with the best of 'em.
