We won't win but if we play better and get closer it'll still be a net positive. There is a group in our team who may be slowly declaring (or already have) that they can't give us what we need (possibly AAAA, maybe Wilson and Lolesio) but currently replacement options just aren't there.
Work with what we've got for now, then make offers to repatriate some potential problem solvers for us (Isaac Lucas and Harry Hockings to the Tahs is the big ones, maybe Banks to the Force and retaining Petaia, having some way to select Kerevi from Japan but he has to stay in as good a shape as Jesse Kriel seems to. Same for Skelton)
Make peace that we'll grind through this year and next, but if we keep a squad together will be potential semi finalists in 2027.

I think we'll see Blyth, Hooper and Uru all come into the 23.
The big problem for us is it's just not possible to get the scrum to where it needs to be in 7 days. This is boks team at the peak of their powers against an experienced wallaby pack missing guys like Tupou, BPA and Bell. Unfortunately if you're going to be giving penalties away at nearly every scrum it just makes things so easy for a team this experienced that loves to kick to the corner and attack. I actually think this game becomes a lot closer if you can gain some kind of parity at scrum time. Unfortunately that's not going to happen based on the available talent.

Carter and Robertson were mentioned separately to Canham as training cover, so it's likely just about being there. There were a number of Reds guys called in to help with training in Brisbane too - Ryan Smith for example (and I assume Canham, given his call up), it just wasn't mentioned in the press.

Kolisi is not a fetcher. They don’t really have one. We could use the added weight from having Uru or even Hooper. Hooper is more of a 5 though.
Maybe “is a good match” is not good terminology. He might just be a better fit for us at the start as opposed to a little fella.

Darcy has been playing with the Tuggeranong Vikings in the JID Cup in Canberra. Maybe he's not available in Perth, however I thought I saw that both he and Sam had been brought in as training opposition. If he's there, I think he could be a chance of a spot in the test team.

Personally I don't think we should shoehorn a guy in because he's bigger. There needs to be a plan around it

Tend to agree - just would swap Pietsch with Toole for outright gas - try and play a wider game.
If we play two big blokes at #6 and #7 then I'd play them as left and right (like France play) and share the breakdown work, but I prefer Reimer at #7 for a start.
SA don't have a pilfer specialist as they all have the ability to disrupt the breakdown - Kolisi is the closest they have to a traditional #7 (even though he wears #6 in SA tradition).

Paisami hasn't been amazing but I don't think Stewart is able to address his short-comings.

Paisami was a target on the weekend in both attack and defense, and the Boks were able to knock him back over the ad-line repeatedly, but unless we have Kerevi from pre-ACL available then I don't think we have an upgrade on Paisami, and Stewart certainly won't solve the issue.

He was also our most effective attacking weapon in the backline. The targetting had much less to do with Paisami and more to do with him receiving tip on passes in a flat footed backline - anyone at 12 was going to cop it and I'm pretty doubtful even peak Kerevi would've done much better with De Allende in his face as he received a ball standing still.
