With FF (Folau Fainga'a) (Folau Fainga'a)'s throwing issues, and his better scrummaging and general play, I would much prefer him starting.
It's too stressful having a line-out with 5minutes to go without Porecki throwing.

I would have stared him also, but I think Porecki offers less off the bench than FF (Folau Fainga'a) does. It's becoming a real problem position right now. The guys we can see have huge potential (Lonergan, Pollard) aren't completely ready yet

McDermott and Gordon have both been poor... but at least McDermott offers something in attack - he just needs to work on his distribution and kicking game.

Longergan I thought was even better then White in super rugby, but he was very average in Aus A so I don't think he warrants selection. I would rather persist with Tate.

He didn't blow it away for Aus A but he was also playing with a different 10 each week. He definitely feels like a safe pair of hands as a player. I wouldn't be angry to see him in the Wallabies squad.

He's also a good goal kicker. He slotted a difficult match winner this year. He could have been the hero where Donaldson failed.

I honestly don't understand the confusion. Rennie explicitly stated that he wanted to see improvement in Tate's kicking and passing game, yet he comes on against Italy and has his worst game to date for skill execution - it's quite clear.

At the same time, you've got the Captain of the Waratahs (i.e. a senior and experienced player) who gave away a stupid yellow card where the opposition put 14 points past us.

We talk about not understanding why the Wallabies aren't improving their discipline, but, here's a clear answer. Gordon was not punished by the team for his individual cock up and is rewarded by being selected in the 23 the following week.

Are you saying that any player who gives away a needless yellow card should be punished by non- selection the following week, or is it specifically because you don't like Gordon? Generally, you don't punish players for one- off incidents that go against their overall track record.

Sorry but you have to compare his performance to the alternative. Which is Gordon, who also had a poor game, with a yellow card.

IMO one is not clearly worse then other. Both are equally poor.

I mean, this is the second yellow card Gordon has gotten for doing something stupid this year alone?

I've got no problem with Gordon, I'm just sick of hearing about how the Wallabies are trying to make themselves more accountable and here's evidence that contradicts otherwise.

There's a direct link between Gordon's decision here, 14 points being put on the Wallabies and us losing the game. What more evidence do you need presented to you that all this accountability talk is just that, hot air?

When the coaches come out and say they're cracking down on discipline and we're the most penalised team in the world then yes

Unfortunately McDermott didn't really leave them with an option. He consistently passed behind the man and had two awful kicks. In theory he should be great off the bench but I'm yet to see him play well coming on. He seems to be better suited to starting and hard to argue against White starting currently.

Disagree McDermott was no worse than Gordon when Gordon was actually on the field. But more importantly McDermott didn’t give up a stupid yellow card.

This is a team which is reportedly cracking down on discipline issues

It was an unnecessary yellow to give away, particularly from a senior member in the team....

And with all the talk about punishing such indiscretions coupled with his form - Gordon shouldn't be in the team this week.

Neville was also excellent against the French. I did think they would start Neville and have the impact from Skelton. But much of a muchness

Unless there is an injury issue, Skelton won't get more than 30 minutes. Your most powerful player needs as much time as possible on the park to make the impact he can. Rennie is just trying to limit his losses by giving Skelton 30 minutes to "stop a rout while its in progress". This team has not been selected to win, its been selected for an honorable loss.

To win, Australia needs to pin the Irish deep in their half and then exert maximum pressure on them till they break. The three key players to do that are Tupou, Skelton and Hodge. None of them are starting.

My son is the first Aussie born in our family. Have a family tree dating back to the 1700s. Although my grandfather did get on a ship to America chasing some girl and couldn't find her so returned to Ireland. My great grandfather lived in South Africa on more then one occasion but always returned to Ireland.
