How would anyone know: the highest paid australian Rugby players is a fellow playing in France....I had never heard of him when told this. He's a 5/8. Who knows how good he is, was or might have been?
When they did it with elson it felt wrong. When they did it with Vickerman, they didn't quite do it, but it felt worse.
Why have any rule if you're not going to enforce it: all such a situation leads to is a feeling that there are different rules for different players.

Brock James, who I imagine you are refferring to, played significant amount of rugby in SANZAR areas prior to going to Clermont, inlcuding a stint with the Western Force. Regardless of what he may have been here has he stayed, he's not terribly relevant since he ins't an example of someone jetting off OS on the basis that he will still be picked as a wallaby, which is what you seem worried about. He left despite the ban on OS wallaby selection, not BECAUSE of exceptions to it that were made.

Of course there are different rules for different players. The players get paid different amounts aswell. Is that unfair?

it all depends on how they behave, where they fit in the team, how much more they get paid and whether they justify it. Giteau's slide from grace began with the huge contract he went to the western force for and worsened when firepower didnt front up with the folding stuff. St George in the NRL this year provide a very good example of what happens to a team, with the same personnel, when they realise that someone in the tent is not "playing" for the team anymore.........its a big picture question: a policy decision. You need a policy you can live with ask Julia gillard.....

Not a particularly cohesive ramble and not at all relevant to the topic at hand.

Beau was in the squad, he'd still be in the frame wouldn't he? But he got one shot and had a mare, same as Timani.

I'd have him myself, I think he's a big game player, but the nerves he showed v Samoa may have cost him.

Cannot believe they are not bringing over Robinson, particularly as he played so well against the Super 15 teams and we are likely to play SA and NZ.

I agree Robinson had a great Super season and would definitely deserve to be there over Hodgson if hey had the same level of Wallaby experience.

However, he doesn't and surely we don't need it proved any more that test rugby is very, very different to Super rugby.

So has anyone officially been sent home yet.

From what I can peice together, McCabe is gone, whilst Palu, Horne and Fainga'a will sit out this weekend and if they dont improve they will be on the plane home as well.

If I was coach I'd probably wing it this weekend with barnes/AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) combo (with no real back-up) and then hope horne/Fainga'a come good for the knockout stages. This would allow dingo to bring in a flanker straight away, and then if the others don't come good, a winger, a centre and another loosie.

Deans being deans he will probably go for tapuai first for McCabe, and then hodgeson. I'd go for robinson first and then toss up between lachy turner, morahan and tapuai.

Bringing in taps is a big call, as he is a specialist 12, we already have two uninjured players who can play inside centre (barnes and JOC (James O'Connor)) as well as two injured players who might recover in time for the quarters (Horne and Fainga'a).What we need is someone to cover 12/13/14/15, and so I'd be looking more at turner and morahan. No disrespect to tapuai, but I dont think we will win the world cup with him at 13, maybe at 12, but not at 13. If worst comes to worst and all 4 are injured, then I would pick 2 of the above backs as well as robinson and probably dave dennis.

Dingo will have to make some phone calls quickly but so that the aforementioned players, especially taps, turner and dennis don't trash their fitness on mad Monday.

I have a lot of time for Dave Dennis, but he made little or no impression in the Shute Shield final yesterday. McCutcheon was the pick of the Uni forwards.

Not sure what the relevance of these observations is: McCutcheon is not even s. 15 standard but he is certainly a very good club player. Dennis has not played a test, has he?

I was shocked when Dave Dennis' name was being thrown around....HE'S NOT A FUCKING OPENSIDE!

Robinson, Hodgson, Gill, Waugh take your pick

Dennis is uncapped but he's pretty much all we have left in the way of backrowers, unless you go for mowen. Pretty sure chapman, kimlin and brown are injured.
