My minimum criteria was s14 experience at 12. JO'C has not played any tests at 12, but he did play the whole of the 2009 s14 season at 12, and played very well. But for a horror season of injuries at the Force, he may well have played there this season.

chambers wouls be ideal for me at 13 if we can sort out 12 but in a wc yr i fall into line with the jake white/clive woodward thinkin of big defensive centers who can bend the line and chambers' superior distribution puts him there over ashley cooper who i also feel has to be on for 80mins

Are we selecting for the World Cup? 2011?
The Chambers experiment is very compelling and going by history, there is still enough time to blood one young rookie into the test team in a World Cup year. Look at 2003 - Tuquiri, and 2007 - Barnes. I do feel there is a place for him at the expense of someone more experienced. I also think J'OC could compliment him very well, however this all entirely depends on Quade becoming a tackling machine, fix this, and you get closer to answering the backline selections.

For me, the bench wins test matches. Build a very experienced bench with the likes of Giteau, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Vickerman, Alexander and other teams are going to dread coming out after half time.

Not an overly fast back line, but with Cooper & O'Connor's creativity and some direct running/offloads from Chambers and Ioane in the midfield they should make up for it. Otherwise I'd be look at replacing Mitchell with Turner or Davies (if he learns to play rugby). Cooper Vuna could be a roughie if he brings his NRL form over and transitions well.

It appears that all is now forgiven with QC (Quade Cooper)?
I don't care what the stats say about last week. He has not improved at all.
He is still going too high usually, his footwork before contact is still no better.The only difference last week was that the Italians did not ask him enough questions.
The frogs will chew him up & spit him out.
BB should play 10 then either JOC (James O'Connor) or the forum fav @ 12.
We just cannot afford to give everyone a Cooper headstart anymore.

I just watched the replay and Cooper was substantially better in defence, taking most tackles head-on with his body in the way.

Mitchell, Ioane, Beale not fast enough for you? Not sure who you would put in to increase the speed without increasing the flakiness as well. I'm starting to believe that Turner is just a faster version of Hynes - doesn't have much game changing or winning ability. Davies is no where near at this stage.

Grouch, happy for you to disagree, but look at his body height at contact, he still stripped one which demonstrates he has not fundamentally changed anything.look at how he hit the no 8! he almost tackled him with his back! on quite a few occasions he seems to launch/drive too far away/too early.he needs to concentrate on little steps before contact.
There were a couple of examples where he came up too quick, realised it & stopped.Leaving him in no mans land. A better side would have exposed him yet again.
We'll see on the weekend I s'pose.
The problem I have is that once you are identified as a poor defender, it becomes self fulfilling.You have to tackle much more and when you miss one EVERYONE says see that, run at him again, and so it goes....

I am not that hopeful he can turn it around.

this year? Really? I actually can't remember seeing Horne do too much this year. The fact no one picked him in their team in the above quoted article probably supports that. The fact Horne has now had half a dozen tests and still hasn't done anything will probably hinder him next year. He needs a kick arse S15.
