Well. Higgers vs Palu, Pyle vs Timani, Inman vs AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), etc. Thoughts?

Personally I didn't watch every minutes but from what I saw Timani was pretty anonymous and Pyle was much better. I also thought Folau was pretty quiet yet again and Mitchell seemed to be the pick of the Tahs back 3. Inman had a few good moments also.

Any word on the injuries to Robinson & Barnes?

Last night, Higgers >>> Palu; Pyle >> Timani. Folau again solid and should be starting 15 for tests.

Dennis is pretty big compared to Gill. Dennis just seems to have very little impact on the line for a man his size.

CFS weighs more than Liam now I think.

Higgers has definitely cleaned up some of the big defensive errors he was making earlier this season. He's the complete package now. His line out ability means he has to start at 6 or 8 in my eyes.

but MMM isn't around and there isn't a better 5/6 option

So why not name another player somewhere else, and then bring a 5/6 option in for the final 6?

Unless he is going to have Dennis in the 23, which would be pretty scandalous considering the form of the other contenders, there is no point having him in the squad at all.

Can't fault the Rebel pack tonight. Man on man pretty much outplayed their Wallaby opposites with only 35% of the pill. Dennis was the invisible man and frankly when you've got Higginbotham and Mowen why do you need him? if he is supposed to be a 6 and a back up lock then were better off with a specialist lock like KD or Pyle and if we need another 6 then someone who can do some damage like HMM.

You would think the Rebels had won by 50 with such a dominant forwards display

But having only 35% of the pill suggests otherwise

We could run him at 5/8. :)

Shouldn't it be the whole squad, not just 'pretty much'?

Nah. If Genia was out of form, you'd pick him anyway because he has proven over so long he is generally reliable. But Deans is pretty liberal in his view of who he can pick while out of form.

I'd wager Stephen Moore isn't in form. Genia has been hot and cold lately too. Both certain starters though.

It's not the QANTAS Wallabies, it's the Wallabies sponsored by QANTAS.

This really shits me.

This sort of clusterfuck features in all their advertising and promotions.

Rant over (for the time being).

Timani was very strong in contact last night and was busy all game. Pyle had another good game and showed much more than Douglas. Higgers totally outplayed Palu and was exceptional at the base of a scrum that was going backwards for much of the night. That would be a good skill for the Wallabies to have in the back pocket. I would wager he also had considerably more running yards in close than Cliff, without having seen the stats.
I now think he should start at 8 over Palu.
It was a pretty shabby performance by a near all Wallaby pack against the opposite. The Rebels are finding their feet and showing great enthusiasm to play for each other. Good signs from them for the future.

Possession is not the be all and end all but if I was Cheika I would be mortally pissed off that they could not win with 65% of it.

If Higgers started at 8 with Mowen or MMM at 6 the lineout would remain reasonably strong even though Timani would be alongside Horwill, which it looks as though RD is already decided on.

Palu plays very tight, makes good ground and gets offloads off regularly, pure gold in tight. He is also a beast in rucks and mauls and hammers out tackles. He isn't catching the eye the way Higgers does, but he's a huge workload player. Higgers brings a different dimension that can be gamebreaking, but very easy to underestimate what Palu brings imo.

Love all this MMM talk. I reckon you are all delusional in thinking a guy who played 5 rounds and won't be back for another week or two ( after years in Japan) is going to make the wallabies.
I think burgess being out of the country team means he is out. Given hills comments I will be surprised if he gets a rebels game.
Pyle>Douglas>timani
Timani I just don't get.

I rate higgees a completely transformed player as Rebs captain and would make him 8 everyday over Palu

I'd have my cake and eat it too and play both, with Higgers at 6 (80 mins but switching to 8) and Palu 55 or 60 and switching to Gill or Madness.
