Wallabies 2025

I will never forget the barnyard dance. Cheika could probably still do the motivation thing, and maybe he has learned from some of the former befuddlement?

I'd imagine he'd want length of tenure so probably not on the list for shifting WB HC selection onto the same same cycle as the rest of the world.

I expect him to be the next Irish coach
Makes sense by virtue of his nationality but probably not by virtue of the way Ireland are travelling. Can't see them voluntarily parting ways with Farrell for as long as he wants to stay on.

Yep very well. Stark difference from another Wallabies HC candidate, McKellar who left mid contract last year after finishing 8th (out of 10).

Leicester are sitting in 3rd and are playing a pretty fun brand of rugby.

Yes and no.

McKellar started out his campaign without his test stars post RWC… had a pretty average year.

Cheika just got spanked by 80 by Toulouse….

80 fucking points.

For me it was the "run the ball from our 22" bullshit.

Not saying you are wrong about Cheiks but to be fair... those French Rugby clubs are basically the EPL equivalent these days. Doesn't really mean much.

O'Gara keen for the wallabies job:
I like what Waugh is saying here. ROG is firming in my mind as the right coach if they want to keep the progression going which Schmidt started. As long as ROG is happy to work with and continue to build what Schmidt put into place. And they can works together without any issues.

Bringing Chieka in will be a full culture shock for the players. I still have PTSD from 2016 - 2019 when I have no idea what he was doing with that team.

Like many I am keen to see the current Aus super coaches stay where they are and build over the next couple of years.

The Cheika from 2016 to 2019 certainly wasn't attractive. But, if we're going to be sensible about running the ruler over potential Wallaby coaches, I'd much prefer we have a close look at what Michael did with Argentina the last few years. IF he could replicate that performance with the Wallabies over the next two years I wouldn't complain.

I don't understand how Chieka fits with the system RA has been building over the last couple of years.

Didn't he have issues with Scott Johnson being a head of rugby role (or am I getting mixed up with coaches)?

Chieka in the past has shown he wants complete control and seemingly shirks all responsibility for being a national coach.

I still remember him being on the gagr podcast complaining the players weren't fit enough thanks to the states.

RA seems to want the HC providing input and growing the skills of our domestic coaches and I just haven't seen enough of Chieka pulling people up with him.

Lol out of the 3 Oz prospects he'd make the most sense.

But ill keep him..

Wonder if Schmidt leaving remove Fisher too.. I know people hated on him but the style will change if his not there

He ain't being mentioned much, and he is again running the best, most well structured franchise

There’s been some comments that Kiss is one of the favourites from the local selection. Whether that is informed comment or not I have no idea. But Larkham gets mentioned in every meaningful discussion I’ve read.
