Wallabies 2024

Doran laying the ground work for Lynagh to be left at home for Argentina

Stewart won’t just be considered in the midfield, with the 26-year-old a possible third-string option in the No.10 jersey if Lynagh isn’t selected for the next leg of the Rugby Championship.

Lynagh, 21, has come off the bench twice for the Wallabies over the past six weeks but hasn’t been able to string matches together.

That is because the rising Reds playmaker is battling confidence with his hamstring.
Doesn't trust his hamstring is usually code for isn't quick enough, right?

Stewart has been in the squad. Surely you’d assume he’d be a decent chance. Either that or move Ikitau in one and play Flook at 13.

Surely they bring in Kerevi not doing so would be stupid given none of the available test inside centres are test quality

The issue being Kerevi in '23 was arguably not test quality - if the concerns regarding his fitness are correct, there's nothing to suggest he'd leapfrog Stewart/Flook.

In saying that, given the circumstances, bringing him into camp to get his fitness right and start building combinations might be the best option. It all just depends how undercooked he is.

Kerevi '23 was only 12 months on from an ACL.

He's got another year under his belt now. Hopefully he's been training with QC (Quade Cooper) getting back to shape but it just sounds like he's been taking it easy in Japan

That's what I'm talking about since last year. If you have Kerevi in Australia you can manage the game time and the preseason. That's where the benefactors should invest their money

I think we’ll need to take a hard look at Kerevi, but only if he’s fit. Other than that, it’s Stewart or JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor). Inside centre is definitely a problem at the moment
According some reports he isn't fit. And RA did nothing in all this time

What did you expect RA to do? They've very clearly been in contact with him and no doubt have outlined their potential plans and expectations for him - that's about as much oversight as they can have with someone not in the squad.

And don't just say they should've put him in the squad - the reports were that both parties were in agreeance regarding him being overlooked. Given he was on a post-season European holiday until a week ago, it sounds pretty likely he would've opted out regardless of his fitness level.

Does Kerevi isn't fit to play mean he was recently injured and he's working diligently with physios to get back to full fitness for his club, or does it mean he's quite happy stuffing around in Div 2 Japanese rugby, and doesn't really fancy doing the training that would be required to get to test match standard?
