Wallabies 2023

The interesting one not commented on thus far here or in the Match Day thread is that Phillip and Neville are both playing this weekend, and it may be the thing which starts to decide who is the backup in the 33 and who is the train on.
Could through LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) in that conversation also.

Could be. Ultimately depends on the mix across the whole forward unit. I think if you're presuming that Frost, Arnold and Skelton are likely the 3 playing in the RWC, carrying an out and out 4th Lock in one of those two "probably" provides more value to the squad for minute management and niggly injuries throughout the group stage for the two big blokes than going for a lighter more versatile player.

Is that fair dinkum? why on earth would it not just be put on STAN
Can watch Ernie Dingo right before the footy. What more do you want?

Who knows. Maybe the Tongan broadcaster had an existing relationship with SBS and this was the easiest way to facilitate it being broadcast here at late notice.

Rugby Australia has confirmed that it is only today that there has been confirmation that there would be a local broadcast which was required before someone in Australia could get the rights to show it.

I don't think many people hate Quade, I don't. Myself and I'm sure many others here understand that he's become a more mature player on the field. But what he's done over the last couple of years is really sell his brand. The reality is he's still doing what he's done for his whole career. String together a few great performances, get some big wins but majority of his performances are mediocre at best.
That's laughable. Quade has one of the highest win records (64%) of any Wallabies player in decades when starting during a sustained period 2010-2023 of Wallabies being poor/average. If anything he is underrated and his contribution to Australian rugby is massively understated. He is simply misunderstood by people like yourself, it seems to be a perception issue where being naturally talented = lack of game IQ, what many fail to recognize is that Quade's greatest asset is his rugby brain. McKenzie & Rennie saw this, Deans & Cheika did not.

Deans selected Cooper more than any subsequent coach and his winning record under Deans is higher than his overall winning percentage.

Quade's winning record is very good relative to other current Wallabies. He benefits from playing a lot of his tests in an era when the Wallabies won more and playing little or no tests through 2017-2020 where the Wallabies winning record was poor.

Quade was hugely critical of the stodgy gameplan Robbie had him playing which didn't get the best out of him, Deans didn't assess the skillsets & attributes of his players and then look to build a gameplan around their strengths, he always tried to force square-pegs in round-holes.

In contrast Ewen McKenzie got the absolute best out of him, he could see that Quade had incredible game understanding and intelligence for someone of his age, hence McKenzie built his entire Reds gameplan him, Quade was running the Red's training sessions, he was essentially a player-coach for them, Link recognized Quade's genius, which is why he empowered him as a leader.

Yeah look there’s no doubt Quade is a good player, and that certain coaches get more out of certain players than others. I’m just grateful there isn’t a Foley/Cheika version of you that we could watch you lock horns with.

I know it was listed somewhere, but no way is T. Hooper 120+

Realistically if you wanted a bigger 7 it was be Samu, and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) would be a more natural fit (and equally heavy) no.6

Then of course a bench of

16. BPA 17. Slipper 18. Pone 19. Arnoldx2 20. Gleeson
Was at a function this evening where T Hooper spoke and standing next to him I can easily see him at 120kg. I'm 1.84m and around 110kg and he's much taller and bigger than me.

Did the presser mention when Kellaway or Petaia would be back from injury?
and more importantly - Gleeson.

He literally said himself he was only 118kg in 2022 and he looks slimmer to my eye this year. I struggle to believe he's over 115kgs.
