My last word on the Foley / Cooper thing.

Unfortunately neither has been able to lock down the position by dominant performances.

Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Leave it at that.

That's a spot on summary.

When the ARU come up with their Cooper/Foley and Genia/Phipps genetically engineered super players, hopefully they breed them in South Australia or Tasmania so we can get rid of the provincial bias as well!

Presumably they'd still have to play for a state with a team?

If the Welsh lineout has been further compromised by the loss of AWJ then all the more reason to go in with the strongest possible lineout so that we dominate that facet. Games are won and lost at the lineout more often than anywhere else.

Betya we have 2 shorties

Only if we have a good kicking game to take advantage of that.
That means Cooper at 10 and preferably DHP at 15.

If Foley is at 10 and Folau at 15 then better off dominating the breakdown with Pooper and Timani since the kicking game is so poor the wallabies will play ball in hand more.

With the Wales line out weakened a bit I'd really like to see us go hard at that phase and also the breakdown. Basically try and suffocate the Welsh attack and burn them on the counter. It will all depend on speed and support play, something we haven't always got right this year but conversely I know we're capable of it.

For that to have a chance of happening then Fardy and Timani must be the 6 and 8 for lineouts so 4 genuine lineout options are there.

Then Pocock the 7 for going hard at the breakdown, Fardy and Timani hit the breakdown hard as well.

Hooper the odd one out in being ineffective at lineouts and really tries hard at breakdowns but just doesn't make it, so he has to be on the bench.

No way did Foley deserve the nod ahead of Cooper in Auckland. Cooper was just starting to control the game and getting back to reasonable form.
Then Foley comes out at Auckland and plays his best game for a year at any level of the game.
Wouldn't it be great if Cheika had actually planned it that way? Its still hit and miss and not really knowing what type of 10 we want and then not getting the 10 we bargained for anyway.
Nothing parochial there.

Sean McMahon is a better lineout option than Timani.

Timani is much better than he was because his handling has improved and started being used as an option in 2016 for the Rebels but he is still not a strong lineout option.

The only thing that makes him seem like a decent option is that he is tall.
