So South Africa win theirs, New Zealand/France win theirs, we either win ours, or need to beat New Zealand/France on points?

Correct.

As soon as you don't win all three pool games it becomes pretty hard to get through to the next stage. Beating Fiji with a bonus point is non-negotiable but then we face Ireland who are presumably the favourite in our pool.

Certainly don't want to get to the final game needing a bonus point win against England to have any chance of going through.

didn't realise Ireland were the favourites, thought it'd be England then us. Jammy Irish.

I really don't understand why a streaming platform, which shows 10 club games simultaneously every weekend can't show every match.

Winner of each pool and second placed team with the highest competition points make the semi-finals.
I have always hated this playoff system (probably because we always get knocked out). At least the top 2 from each pool should go through, so the top 6 and then work it out from there. Actually seeing as there are 12 teams I would prefer 2 groups of 6, they play 5 games each and then top 2 of each group in to semis. 5 pool games instead of 3 ensures the better teams to come out on top.

It's a tough system but I don't think it really affects the overall result. It just means that the dream that you have a chance of winning is over sooner for a couple more teams. In terms of development, teams get more games against teams of similar standard to them because of the four team playoff groupings.

As it stands, everyone plays 5 matches (3 pool games plus two playoffs).

Making it 7 games in total would presumably require close to two weeks more and slightly larger squads (I think having only 5 games allows you to condense the tournament without major risk to players) which would increase the cost of running it a lot.

I can't really see them changing the format and increasing the size of the tournament (either in terms of number of teams, length or playoffs).

This is somewhat the other guys in the squad if you go by NZ series.

Only judging that by Barrett, De Lutiis, Wilson, Bowen not starting.

I know you want mins in Vaihu but I was liking how Annan was starting to look at home in 12. I know it’s still the Centres..
