I know it only week 2, but perhaps gap is bigger than I thought, and I think is the result of Aus team just playing each other for a couple of years, they seem to be going a little backwards. I been listening to justin Harrison a bit last few weeks and he keeps saying they won't get away with that against kiwi teams , they punish mistakes, I was thinking maybe Justin but are you sure? Well seems he knows a bit, and does get it right a bit.

Its hardly a revelation, since week one of Super AU we have had poor control over possession of the ball, we have no decent tactical kickers, we have no decent box kickers that can put the ball where it is required, we knock on too much and throw speculative passes without considering if the defence is in a position to intercept.

All NZ teams thrive on turnovers and poor handling to score tries and have always been good at this.

Dan there was a gap between oz and kiwi teams pre covid and we added a team so what did you expect... we ain’t going to address closing these gaps by continuing to just play kiwi teams. Surely our past super rugby experience tells you that but you keep peddling out the problem is for last 18 months we have not played kiwi teams. So if results have got even wider after one round is that because we are playing kiwi teams. Your logic makes no sense.

Yeah I remember someone posting that. Using the default $1.87 bookies seem fond of I arrived at $22-odd, I suspect the actual figure will be closer to that than $100K .

I not sure, but this is not working, if you want Aus rugby to go backwards, have an Aus only comp, or if you want long term gain, get in and play a comp that will improve the standards.

Depth is the issue, always has been. I posted something similar in the Where To thread, but I think we just have to form an 8 team domestic comp and then proper rep teams from NSW and Qld can play the NZ provinces at the end of our comp just like back in the 80s and 90s.

Premier Clubs warehousing players is the issue.
Rubbish schools competitions are the issue.
Self-interest and politics are the issue.
Rank incompetence and backstabbing politics are the issue.

You can have all the fucking playing talent you want, but unless the back offices are in order, and the systems are strong, we're going to get the same shit.

Yeah let's drop a team or 2 and watch another 50 guys head overseas or retire. Let's narrow the coaching pathways to the point where we chuck a bunch of them in the sea as well. Let's give the guys left a bigger slice of the Wallaby top-up pie, and when THEY fail due to a lack of competition for places, slag them off as greedy bastards as well.

There's nothing wrong with our depth - it is a fucking simpletons who refuse to employ what we have properly.

I actually think your logic makes a lot of sense here. We have a 8 team domestic comp and then have say 3 teams to compete with say the kiwi teams in a champions league style comp. logical rep teams would be nsw, qld and combined states teams maybe. I think we need this sort of out of the box thinking of going to try to have both domestic and TT/ champions league style competition with nz. As this is way of addressing depth issue without destroying oz rugby footprint and relevance cf other footy codes in Australia.

Nope, you’re using the price at the line.
The line in most games in week 1 were in mid twenties, meaning you’re looking at $10/the underdog.

I really like that idea KOB, and think it makes a lot of sense, always has. Think of it basically had this system with NRC, and could of been easy to tweek that to relevance I believe! You would probably have to play 8 team comp at end of season, as you would want to name rep squads and give them a decent preseason.

Week 2 - All NZ teams was $2.14

Week 1 - All Aus teams was $10567.74
Week 2 - All Aus teams was $22760.92

This was with Sportsbet and on their "powered option" which pays a fraction more as a bonus bet.

This season has been pretty good. I only picked incorrectly once in Super AU and am perfect so far in TT.

They're actually not much better, depending where you are.

But overall it is pretty simple: get the egos out of it. After RWC2007 the NZRFU said "no more" and started sending strong signals down the chain that things had to operate a certain way, and put ABs success at the top of that pile.

No, they didn't get everyone, but enough were paying attention to get the job done. To some degree QRU have achieved this and they took control of their NRC destiny.
