I think it is much better given it means referees aren't bottling decisions for fear of impacting games too much.
It was pretty farcical how frequently obvious red card offences that were going to lead to suspensions were only given yellow cards. Even in Super Rugby AO this year that happened a lot early in the season.
The Sevu Reece yellow was clearly a red in the final, IMO.
A few years ago the tackle in the air on DMac would also have been a straight red. They seem to have gone softer on those again.
