You're asking precisely the wrong man, daz. I am and have been totally mystified but his continued omission has seemingly given a lot of joy to a lot of people. Even when they've had what they wished for the ridicule just goes on. Whatever his presumed faults I admire him greatly for continuing to back up each year and improve. I think his refusal to throw in the towel infuriates the mockers.

This thread's gone all silly; I don't think one participant's changed his, or her, mind about Carter. Surely that's reason enough to bury it.

Could one of the mods please close this thread. And the other one.

A few suggestions here about other backs in response to my post. None are in the pest league. I am talking about Sheehan, harrison, finnegan. Grey, smith, larkham aren't anywhere near these blokes, and I can't recall another back (bar no9) that has come close to these guys. Possibly a reason that Carter sometimes gets more spite than what other players do.

Just out of genuine interest, Bruce, why did Carter never get a game at the big show?

I only ask because you say that he won't get a gig "no matter how well he performs". Surely if he was an ace performer he would get a call up, even to the seconds, so what is the real reason?

2 years ago every man and his dog got a Wallaby jersey; Deans was practically handing them out as a special surprise in a box of corn flakes. There was even some hotly contested debate on this.

So, why did Tom Carter miss the bus?
I think he was injured for a signifficant period around that time daz, but I can't remember for sure. If so, it couldn't have helped

If he thought he was gouged I don't have an issue with him reporting it. It would be interesting to see his response on whether he thinks Byrnes deserved the 10 weeks after viewing the footage though.

I'm not a Carter fan but the bloke had blood coming out of his eye because it got raked. Eye gouging is the lowest act in the game and carter was right to report it

You know when someone has you by the face with a finger in your eye no matter what a long distance video might suggest. Byrnes shouldn't have been pulling him out of the ruck by the face either

Good riddance to Byrnes

No it's not an idiotic comment, the thread is full of shit comments and it's a reasonable point. If a player has a reputation for being a scumbag, and you all defend him, just how scummy can he get?

I'm opening the discussion, but I'm not going to accuse him flat out because I haven't seen it.

Nothing I've read us very incriminating, apart from written submissions from TC and the Tahs doc.

Is everyone so precious?

You're trying to stir shit up by making a comment upon an incident you haven't even seen.
Try learning about the citing process.
So, if you deem a player to be a scumbag, raking their eyes should have a lesser significance?
You are beyond the pale.

And you aren't stirring shit by misrepresenting my point?

If it's eye gouging ban him for life - I can't see why you'd let anyone back after that.

But - nowhere have I read an opinion of anyone who thought it looked like a gouge - and the decision seemed based on a statement from TC and his doctor.

Now if, as many people seem to think, TC has a less than admirable lie sense of fair play, then it's not out of the realms of possibility he's exaggerated the incident. Especially if he couldn't see it - as he had fingers in his eyes.

Misrepresenting? You called him a squealer, when called out on that admitted you hadn't seen it. What does that say, other than you are trying to get a reaction with an inflammatory comment.
Your last sentence above is about as wilfully idiotic as it gets - he had fingers in his eyes, so he thought he was being gouged. But he couldn't see the context of how those fingers got there, so he can't comment on the fact that fingers were in or near his eyes?
If you honestly think arguing it is some made-up plot by him and the Tahs, you are beyond hope.
Or, as I suspect, trolling.

Or perhaps by prompting that sort of rabid response, direct ridicule to those who can't see things from more than one perspective.

Just a comment from the gallery Cyclopath

You're pretty quick to stir the slop bucket yourself

Calling people's comments "idiotic" and telling them they are "beyond hope" is about as inflammatory as it gets

Walk the talk

The original comment was out of line. Arguing the toss of the ball will get you absolutely no where and probably the exact opposite will occur. Good sense would suggest leaving it alone.
