Not sure he is referring to Old soldier.

Remembering every game is recorded so if anyone thinks when the top grades miss the finals that somehow most of the squad is eligible for 3rd or 4th grade think again. Super sluths can check team sheets to video.
Always a good idea to check the extended benches in the lower grades on the Fusesport app...

You are correct, HeavyD. Very close to the truth.
In 2023, players managed games off the bench despite posting photos to social media from Europe hours before…. And then hours after.
But when a guy plays front row in 3s and is listed in the centers in 2s, yet the video is clearly not him….. well.
In the words of Geoff Toovey (who might be closer to this controversy than we think), there has to be an investigation.

Not Lindfield. I’m missing Sean Grace.

Newport.

Noticed lindfield had Sean Grace and Matt garrow from last year's 1st XV return from injury last weekend in lower grades (2nds from memory)

Pretty sure they had a few fresh reserves on the pine for 1st Grade. Including a big inside centre who caused all sorts of havoc when he came on.

Word on the street is last years number 8 and former captain is back in a few weeks from injury as well.

Also have an ex Eastwood prop playing in 2s. Not sure they require any more stock. Seem to be doing alright with what they have atm.

Big game this weekend vs Ross Reynolds and his HH clan.

Id be very surprised if it was Newport considering all their teams are in the finals already by the looks of the tables? Would they also want to promote dropping players who have been there all year to fit in blokes coming home from Holidays.
This sounds like UNSW
Back in the day, UNSW didnt fudge teamsheets, the top grade guys just played the games. Id like to think they dont change their DNA.

In relation to Lindfield - You cant go changing a winning formula, those players were in at the start of the year and Lindfield werent playing well. Have the players doing the job right now - Need to keep the faith.
Although, is it right to have fresh reserves for 1's, when your 2's are bottom of the table. Club culture and all.

Div 3 Wet Weather Round Preview:

Might as well just resurface my predictions from when these games were originally scheduled and see if anything's changed...

Old Barker (8) at Knox (4): "Throw the form guide out the window when these two former school rivals go head to head, in a match that usually brings down a couple of spare part timers for each team keen to throw their weight around against the old enemy. Barker has improved on late, but I don't think they're improved enough to take down an in form Knox outfit. The passion of the rivalry will keep it close though. Knox by 8." - not much changed here, though playing for double points now which makes Barker even more dangerous as they've found form lately. Will stick with Knox though, too much on the line for them. Knox by 8.

Sydney Harbour vs Sydney Harlequins: "
Sydney H east edition takes on Sydney H inner city edition in this clash, both sides appear evenly matched on paper and the best outside of the runaway top 2. A short trip over to Rose Bay shouldn't hurt the Quinns lads too much - who's run of form includes a demo job on LCOI, a decent scrap against Merrylands and a solid win over BOBs, whilst Harbour has been limping lately, with unconvincing wins against BOBs and LCOI and a drubbing at home vs the Irish. The form says take the Quinns, but style makes fights, and Harbour got up convincingly in round 1. Tough one to pick, but I'll go Harbour at home in Rose Bay in a coin flip. Harbour by 3." - will stick with Harbour despite them looking shaky against a revitalised LCOI last week. Harbour are a tough side when Garrels laces up at 10. Quinns have it all to play for against Harbour and Knox next two weeks though, desperation can yield interesting results... still Harbour by 5.

And therefore have Open

Stacking by its very definition is when higher grades are out of contention and clubs try to make player eligible into lower grades. Newport are minor premiers in Barraclough and pushing for similar in lower grades. Look for clubs outside the 4 in 1s and 2s for where the action is. I saw a game on the weekend where 5 players were subbed on after 2 mins.

Some Fifth Div fixtures being played this weekend:

THURSDAY (tonight) 7:30PM)
Blacktown
(5) v Balmain (8) - I think Blacktown will take this one fairly easily, as they waver between competing with the top sides and smashing some of the lower ranked teams. Might pop over for a look.

SATURDAY
Convicts (9) v Georges River (2)- the Dropbears have locked in a top 4 spot and will be looking to make a statement at Woollahra #3 with only a few rounds left, one of which is the Bye for them.

Savers (1) v Oatley (4) - this should be quite the grudge match. Savers went over to Oatley in June and the ground got closed. No game. Savers not happy. Anyway, I reckon the MiB should do this at home, but it'll be close. Oatley still with games in hand vs Sea Lice (R8) and Convicts (R9)

Balmain (8) v North Cronulla (7) - hard to get a handle on this one. Both sides winners last time out, and separated by a couple of points on the table. I'll go with the Sea Lice as Balmain might be a little weary from tonight's game.

Only other game scheduled was Burraneer v Mac Uni which the students look to have forfeited.

FOURTH DIV

Western Raptors (2) v Hornsby (1) - Raptors could take the lead here with a win but hard to go past Hornsby who will want minor & major premierships in both mens grades as well as womens, and a Club Championship as well. Club Of the Year Div 4 and Overall coming up.

Chatswood (6) v Kings (8) - Kings had to forfeit 2s with guys away, and both sides are stacking up a few injuries. The Stags have games in hand and should be able to fight Canterbury for a finals spot in R14 if they win this.

Div 2 Wet Weather

Big log jam in Div 2 will thin out of the wet weather weekend

St Pat 23
Hills 23
Briars 23
Beecroft 19
UNSW 19

Hills vs Briars: Hills fresh off the bye up against Briars, who are of the back of a bruising win in a high scorer against UNSW. Hills are very well structured, play quick expansive rugby up against a Briars outfit who love the tough stuff up front, then have the pace and flair to put on points from anywhere with there super speedy outside backs. This will be a 47-42 points fest, and i am going to go with Hills to sneak home of the back of superior discipline.

UNSW vs Newport: An interesting scenario for UNSW, do they given up the mathematical chance of a finals spot and go with a lower grade focus or try and win their last 2 and hope other result go their way? ? I think UNSW are a big shot at bringing the Breakers unbeaten run to an end with WWW always impacting player availibility. I'm going to go with UNSW by 7.

Surely Forest and Colleagues have called it this season. Please tell them that I can sort out Mad Monday arrangements that they may need. And for those clubs who won’t move up divisions because of a European exodus, let them know that my travel agent can give em a ripper deal.
Colleagues still very much a shoe in for finals in every grade apart from 1st grade.

Manly forfeited as well.

Strange one, maybe just decided they'd done enough to secure their finals spot.

Wet weather weekend is getting a few teams.

Hornsby 2nd grade only had 14 on the sheet with no reserves.
