''He runs all of our plays, he knows our plays - we would be crazy not to ask him, and it is a real option I could have Stephen Larkham running around for three games,'' White said. ''I would never force him to play, but when two fly-halves go down you have to think outside the box.

I think this would be fantastic for the game, can't see it happening though.

Thoughts, feelings, reactions?

I imagine his mind is telling him he can do it and his body will shortly tell him he can't. I hope it doesn't happen. I also hope none of the other names mentioned return to the Brumbies except, perhaps, Craig Wing. It might be interesting to see what he is capable of.

Far better in my view to bank on Holmes or Coleman.

This is going to be either A) a genius move that could work or B) the biggest smokescreen from White to shield the young fly halves.

I'm going with B.

This is an artists impression of him in consultation with the team doctor.

If it comes off, do we change Larkham's nickname from Bernie to Alfie?

He is 37 and in his fifth year of retirement. Throw him in without a pre season of conditioning?
Not even the journo could bring himself to seriously speculate about the possibility, he merely quoted Jake and added a sentence that some have laughed about his possible return.

Almost did a spit-take when I read this today.

I can only imagine that Jake is blowing smoke...

I like it as an idea, kind of thing that gets media attention, bums on seats etc. Whether it'll happen is a different matter but I'd like to see it

I thought the Force looked into this and it wasn't an option as he is deemed a local player in Japan. He could only play if he was the marquee player.

Tony Brown made a pretty good fist of it last year for the Highlanders. I don't know how old he is (he looks about 44...lol) but he'd be a similar age to Larkham surely?

Has Larkham been playing any kind of rugby at all recently??

I don't think his knees will hol up but I did say to misses Sully when they played the Reds that he looked in good enough condition to play.
Also it was 5 years from super rugby only 1 year from plying in Japan.

If he's got an Australian passport and hasn't played for Japan at International level then he wouldn't occupy a marquee position.

I think he's just trying to do old mate Snor de Villiers a favour in trying to find a new job and convince everyone that relatively, he's not that crazy.

I guess if Snor was in this position, he'd want to bring John Smit out of retirement to play 10.
