Only two games so I guess that accounts for the variance, but it seems wild that the tahs have taken ~half the lineouts of the other sides.Round 2 Stats update to come when the Opta Stats get delivered.
In the meantime, via more accessible data, on the hunch that the Reds were throwing to Liam Wright a bit, I thought I'd look at how teams are using their lineout. I only count forward catches so no quick lineouts. And it doesn't include steals (or losses).
Waratahs - 17 lineout wins of which Jed has taken 70%! They don't use their backrow with Seu and Sinclair the only other catchers.
Force - 30 lineout wins with more shared around. Williams has taken a third of them, with Anstee not far away on 30%. There's plenty of trickery afoot with Wagner and Robertson taken 3 catches at the front.
Rebels - 33 lineout wins with Canham taking about 42% with Tualima and Hosea the main other targets. Kemeny and Wilkin have won a couple each.
Reds - 28 wins with Liam Wright having taken a quarter of them (all on the weekend). Wilson, Upfield (from the bench) and Uru are all equal with Smith with 5 tackes. Faifua has a solitary one.
Brumbies - 30 wins with Frost (33%) just edging Neville (30%). Samu (20%), Swain (13%) and Bobby V (just one take) round it out.
Interesting to see Tahs so reliant on so few. I wonder if this changes? You'd be double teaming Holloway for the time being.
Nah, I will never go to the GC again for an event at either stadiums. Went to the Foo Fighters and it took 2+ hours to get back to the apartment we stayed at due to the buses.Cbus on the Gold Coast wouldn't be bad...
Plenty of Kiwi ex pats living there + not a bad joint for Aus fans to travel to if they wanted to

In Reg's stat post after round 1.Is there a description of what these things are based on?
My stoundout is the Forwards Uh Oh having Ryan Lonergan, he plays above his weight!Standouts for me are Daugunu on attack (though still making some errors) and Pasiami & Gamble on workrate/defence. Although you'd hope Gamble would climb the ranks on disrupter too.
In the backs they doMy stoundout is the Forwards Uh Oh having Ryan Lonergan, he plays above his weight!
Seriously though, unsure how the Uh Oh is worked out but is it a good sign that the Reds do not feature in the top 5?
Something's not right in the State of Denmark - Debreczini No 4 in the defensive backs when I don't think he even got on the field last week.
Reg says, after 3 rounds.Something's not right in the State of Denmark - Debreczini No 4 in the defensive backs when I don't think he even got on the field last week.
He specifically has improved on that metric over the 3 rounds though - after the first round he was topping that list with an "Uh Oh" every ~8 minutes, in the two rounds since he's halved that error rate.In the backs they do

2. Jordan Petaia (RED) – 13.86
3. George Poolman (FOR) – 15.50
4. Nic White (BRU) – 15.71
5. Tate McDermott (RED) – 16.
What’s going on with McDermott? His game is not improving. He doesn’t have the same game aggression. The mixing up of team selection could be impacting him here and not doing him any favours for the RWC. Is the captaincy a burden? He needs to turn this around this week as he’s not in my top 4 Oz half backs.
I understand that the halves (should) have more touches on the ball than other positions BUT should also have less errors. Tate needs to get this under control for the betterment of the team performance. Having JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 should help with the management. He specifically has improved on that metric over the 3 rounds though - after the first round he was topping that list with an "Uh Oh" every ~8 minutes, in the two rounds since he's halved that error rate.
He started poorly and certainly the Reds weaker tight 5 hasn't helped much but he has been building into season.
