Not really, Louw, Alberts, Vermeulen is a more than capable backrow. IMO, it's better than Brussow, Burger, Spies.

Pieterson slots in for Habana and Strauss is nearly as good as Bismarck.

Yes but completely different players. Our breakdown work improves greatly when Bismarck plays because he fits our style better. It's like playing another back rower. Strauss plays a lot looser.

On the others:
Brussow - I think he will never play a test under Meyer who just doesn't rate him
Bekker - one injury too far? Every time he comes back he seems a lesser player. Time to move on unless he can come back and play through a season. He has boon poor in Green this year.
Spies - I hope this is the end.
Burger - too good to not have in the 22 but will he ever regain fitness? This injury is major. Will he even come back?
Goosen - let's see him play a full Super season. I am not as convinced as I though I was. Overrated player at the moment. Had a couple of decent Super games but that is really it. He still have to prove it. Meyer is playing stupid games. Give Lambie a proper extended run.

I agree with you about the back row. I prefer Pieterson over Habana currently. I think Frans and Bismarck are the biggest losses.

Sorry for the french but what the fuck have you been watching over the last few months.

Don't get me wrong. I love JP, but fark Habana is in everybody's World 15 at the moment.

That's ok, you're allowed to have a wrong opinion ;)

IMO, Pieterson was playing better than Habana before his injury.

I'd be very happy if that was the team but I still suspect we'll see Kirchner with Taute at 13. He said Taute is his future 15, but he seems to not rate JdJ.

In my opinion Taute is not a 13. He is a big defensive liability there. The AB's showed us that.

It's damn obvious that de Jongh should play.

Mank I agree, but if we start making rugby decision on what happened six months ago we'd be fucked. Habana was the form winger in world rugby in the last 3 to 4 months. Surely you do not deny that.

PS I still think JP is the guy who should play 13.

That was a great piece, LG.

I think HM's noises last week were that Lambie had changed his mind with string performances at 10 for the Sharks. In the same press conference HM admitted that he has made a few mistakes (refreshing for a coach). I think he used the Lambie at 15 thing to deflect the criticism of Steyn. Good to see the player's performance has pushed him over the edge.

Disappointed to not see JdJ at 13.

Steyn on the bench makes no sense. Meyer just can't let the guy go. He is not an impact player.

CJ vd Linde on the bench really is a bit of a joke.

It was good that Meyer chose to keep the youth initiative after Goosen was injured, and picked Lambie at 10 instead of M. Steyn.

He was making noises last week that he was thinking of Lambie only as a fullback,

There is a bit about the Springbok squad here:

.
 Dankie Oom Lee, for some reason I never get to the front page and miss your articles. always a treat to read them.

I am just glad Lampie gets he chance, hope he nail the jersey. Luckily Durbans semi and final have been in Ierlands type of conditions and may have help Meyer to get the switch of mind. Our Pack look like settling now, now we need the backs to perform and kick in.

I feel very good about our pack. Louw really has been the difference and Duane will be better after a few extra games in the cc.

Hope Lampie isn't put into a box by Heyneke.

Probably quotas.

What? You'd swap Kirchner for de Jongh so it's not that.

What is most shocking is that Jantjes is not on the bench. What the fuck does HM want to do with Steyn? Bring him on with 20 to go and make an impact? What impact? Kick the leather off the trucking thing and aim for posts at 60%.

Heyneke Me is making a goddamn rod for his own back.

Jantjes must be so unbelievably disappointed.

We have a chance on this tour to move on and it's being wasted.

Morne Steyn on a bok bench with the likes of Jantjes sitting 20 rows up in a blazer is one of the dumbest fuck selections we have seen all year.

Let's say Lambie plays close to the line and it's working but gets injured. Now Steyn comes on and we revert to him sitting 20m back and our gameplan goes out the window? What exactly is HM on? A fool can see this is so wrong.

Andrew Slack (58)
Why is de Jongh not at 13 so Taute can play 15? Don't like Kirchner

HM clearly did not watch the Currie Cup final.

He is pissing me off.

Almost as much as PdV. Not quite, but we're getting there.

JdJ would walk into most international teams in the form he is in.

Thanks Blou, share your view. We have a awefull long list of youngster 10/12/13's coming through the factory. Meyer claimed his first year will be his try and test year but it seems he is a bit to carefull. pretty sure taute will play 15, JdJ 13 and Jean 12 fopr the Stormers next year.

What? You'd swap Kirchner for de Jongh so it's not that.

What if HM doesn't rate de Jongh as much as you?

But point taken, he could have swapped both positions. In that case he's probably gone with Kirchner for experience.

What is most shocking is that Jantjes is not on the bench. What the fuck does HM want to do with Steyn? Bring him on with 20 to go and make an impact? What impact? Kick the leather off the trucking thing and aim for posts at 60%.

Put yourself in his mind. Given his past persistence with Steyn he probably still views him as the anchor with which he could steady a drifting ship if things start to go wrong. I don't think he's correct, but just trying to understand it.

Steyn was very good in the test against the Poms at Twickenham in 2010 btw.

Maybe with some of the talent you have coming through, a strategy of not kicking away the ball at every opportunity might have some merit.
