Yep, he's also from clubland, but don't forget he had the Sevens stepping stone as well.

IIRC, he was with the Force before he played Sevens. Anyway, he is a Woodies man, or recently was to great effect, so I am stunned that you forgot to mention him.

With the 5th Super side it's good to see the franchises giving some of the better club players a chance to step up at the Super level; Alcock, McKibbin last year, Cottee, Faulkner, Batger, BKH, Perrett: all club stars.
Much more appropriate to be choosing men who have proven themselves playing adult football ahead of boys whose opportunities arise from playing against other boys in school/age championships or Junior games and then get pushed in, in some cases without having shown if they can take or make a tackle in senior football. The Waratahs have one of those on their list at the moment.

Speaking of Jr games have any teams lost players for Jr IRB World Cup in Italy? Southern Districts would have lost a few of their up and coming regular starters.

The players who play regularly in the Shute Shield for their Ones team, at least in the absence of the Super players, and excluding Kingston (permanently with the Tahs these days), are:

Greg Peterson (Manly)
Ben Volavola (Southerns)
Rohan Saifoloi (Southerns)

Those who play in the Ones sometimes are:
Jake Woodhouse (Manly)
Scott Sio (Norths)
Apo Latunipulu (Southerns)

I note that Woodhouse was named in the Manly team as 12 last week, was named as 15 for next Saturday, and has started for them at 13 and 15 for them earlier; so you could say he was a regular Ones player too; and versatile.

I'm off to North Sydney tomorrow to donate my $15 to check out Norths v Warringah. Will be interesting to see how Salesi Manu goes at his new club. Also keen to see Steve Evans v Josh Holmes as I think Evans is very under-rated. If Holmes stops whinging and just plays, will be a great tussle to watch.

What's happened to Tala Grey at Easts?
Good question, what has happened to Tala Grey? He was part of that strong 07 schools side and was actually the preferred 8 to Jake Schatz for the run on side in most games. I believe he has had one or two bad injuries, has he got over them?

he's not listed in any of their sides on their website this week, so I would assume he is injured..................
They'll be getting Phoenix Battye soon, will be interesting to see where they slot him in....and if he stays in that grade!

Enetertaining game so far on ABC btw Uni and Wicks. The yc for McGann (?) of the wicks was probably the softest I've seen for a while but the game's been good overall. Switch it on people!

The ref in this game (uni v wick) is very inconsistent.

Uni are killing them. Wicks playing a horrible game plan

Just gave real credit to the Students and the particular aspects of their game where it was won, eg. scrum, enthusiasm at the breakdown. Most losing captains just say their boys didn't turn up and brush the opponents off. Real genuine guy who speaks very well but we all knew this already.

UNI Oval is a disgrace. They are kidding, I understand there is a cricket pitch, as there is at many other grounds. None are as bad as that.

Get fair dinkum spend some money on grounds rather than players. The ground has been crap for years.

Absolute disgrace you should be ashamed UNI Rugby.

The referee and touchie need to be demoted. God only knows how the touchie didn't get Rokobaro's number was astounding. Also how was the refs interpretation of when a ball is out of the ruck, at one stage Talakai had both hands on the ball yet the Wicks guy was penalised. Disgraceful.
The better team was a young and very good Uni team. That said David Hickey is a thug and his style of play should be discouraged not applauded.

For anyone who happens to be watching the Wicks v Uni game this weekend, either at the ground or on ABC, keep your eye on the Randwick 9 Luke Parsons. He joined the club at the end of the trial season in March, played Round 1 and was Randwick's best, then missed six weeks or so with a shoulder injury. He came back for the game vs Norths in Round 7 and was again our best player. He missed last week because he was home in NZ, but is back to play Uni. Hopefully the pattern continues, and he puts in another five star performance. He's 29 or 30 now, but has played a bit for Waikato in the NPC and has played in Ireland and Italy. I reckon he's a great addition to the comp, and the battle with Matty Schwager should be a beauty.

Yes I watched the #9, he did play OK but the # 15 for Randwick was their best at least for the first half. Where did he come from? Is he here to stay?
