This from foxsports:

After captain Will Genia gave the Reds an early lead with a try in the second minute, the Blues held a big advantage early in the second half thanks to tries from Rene Ranger, Anthony Boric and Alby Mathewson.

But the Reds stepped it up a notch and were rewarded when prop Laurie Weekes crashed over for his first Super rugby try in the 66th minute.

Chasing their second-consecutive win, Cooper's inaccuracy with the boot cost the Reds before Wolf's late try and Stephen Brett's brilliant sideline conversion secured victory for the Blues and denied the Reds a bonus point.

Cooper missed at least one he probably should have got, but they neglect to mention that Brett missed about 4 he should have got, oh and the fact that the 'brilliant sideline conversion' wasn't actually kicked by Brett! Sometimes you wonder if these guys actually watch the same game that we do!

They don't Scotty - I've seen their nightly sports report get heaps of stuff wrong. Hell even SMH buggers it up with image captions and they've got still pictures to look at!

It looked like from the hill that Mealamu was punching into a Reds player in a ruck in the second half, but I take it that this wasn't the case because he didn't get a yellow?

Looked like he was trying to free his arm from the ruck Scotty.

chins up qld, could be worse, you could have talked your team up for a couple of weeks only to look like morons when it all went wrong...........sorry, my bad, continue on topic.

I didn't think the gimp was allowed out of his box this early? Why don't you go grab your poster of Tom Carter and your box of tissues and get back in your hole?

this is a first, a reds fan with fight in him, havnt seen it for years. you really have to be questioning your coach and your backline in my opinion. your I3 is pedestrian, Carter is off contract at the end of the year and would shore up that defensive corridor as well. One win and the world was in the palm of there hands, now, half your home games gone, and one win to show from it. well well, you could always become the spoilers of the competition, make a nice change (see what i did there, it wouldnt be a change, cos your team would be exactly the way they were last year in new uniforms)

You know, you can talk up your tahs, but when you guys lose within the next few hours- rest assured you are gonna lose. We can come back to square one with you talking up your team. good luck jesus, your bible won't help you tonight

So why was he penalised then? :nta:

I think most Reds fans assumed we would lose against the Tahs, but hoped we would win. I don't recall many, if any writing NSW off.

Yes we may have lost, not achieved points but what we did achieve was some sense of defeat. you know practically beating oyu guys in everything besides the scoreline.

Will Chambers might benefit to some more exposure to Club rugby before his next S14 outing...

Really? I didn't think he was too bad...
I thought he was hesitant in attack and took poor options
That try the Blues 9 got by running around him wasn't his finest moment either

Well, it is obviously disappointing to lose this one but the better team on the night won. I was actually quite impressed with the Blues. Good leadership from Mealamu in the second half. Gee that Rene Ranger is a handful, and the halfback was very good.

There were still a number of positives for the Reds who were in this game right until the end.

I wonder what the go is with Hynes and Davies' injuries?

He definately looked a bit nervous and should have backed himself more. The skills are there though.

(Referring to Chambers)

My feeling was these are two teams that should finish near each other on the table, and at this stage I'd predict it will be about mid table.

wj - notwithstanding your blatant fishing, you have made me chuckle not least at the prospect of the Reds signing Carter. I'm almost praying they do now.

heard Link on the radio on the way home. He expects both Hynes and Rocket to be out next week. Chambers will come in for Rod. But 15? Morahan? Toua?

Tough call.

Blues played much better and won in it the middle 40, probably 50. Alby and Brett controlled it well, and the centres were very strong.

Not sure why Fainga'a was replaced, if only because it was Hardman on the bench I guess. Thought Schatz was playing very well too, and was better than Higgers who looked all buttery fingered tonight.

As I said in the other thread. Looking forward to getting back to Suncorp

I don't think that was the incident for the penalty from memory - was Blue 7 or 11 - the TJ wasn't really sure himself.

It's almost as if WJ wants to be banned. Funny in a retarded kid kinda way.

Blues were the better team, and deserved to win. Reds just went missing for long stretches, and honestly, were lucky to be leading at half time. Their cover/scrambling defence is good, but we know that because their general defensive alignment seems to be a shambles at times.

What they were really missing was a good long kick to take pressure off and gain field position. Brett's in game kicking really gave the Blues the better field position, and at key times the Reds just couldn't perform.

Blues scrum was pretty bad, though.

well some changes are going to have to be made, hynes is a massive loss, but bringing either morhan or chambers in for Davies isnt to bad.

I did like the forward packs performance though, the lineouts were very good for the majority of the game, not sure if Hardman threw two crooked balls or if Fainga'a threw one of those. However Fainga'a's workrate around the park was very impressive, he did do things at times which he was lucky paid off.

Higgingbotham, the blokes just not clicking at the moment, he just doesnt seem fully aware of what he should be doing or where his supposed to be, maybe its time Houston steps back into the starting jersey and bring Higgers off the bench.

Reds missed too many tackles in the midfield. A couple of soft tries given away. S Fainga'a has come on a lot.
