10's Rugby is better served with a ball running 5/8, there is extra space generated around the set piece and ruck by having 3 less backrowers on the field.

DP isn't a 5/8, but he is a ball runner with decent distribution skills, behind QC (Quade Cooper) he is the Reds best suited player for that role.

Jake McIntyre just shovels the ball, unless something has changed in the offseason he only ever looks left and right and not what's occurring in front of him. Maybe he should have been a halfback.

Higgers will almost certainly have his contract torn up by the ARU. Pulver does not take too kindly to pissing up against the wall!

Completely agree, but I was wondering what the Reds might be thinking.

I understand what you're saying, and there's certainly value in 10-a-side in having a threatening runner there, but we're still talking man-on defence near a scrum. Rule of thumb is defence is always better structured near the point of origin in non-turnover situations (set piece or ruck), so you wouldn't be running traffic down there regularly unless a team is over hedging on their drift defense.

In 10s you're still looking to shift it a couple of channels out to an isolated 1v1 contest in space. That's where the real tackle busting potential is as with the big channels the help defense just won't get there.

To think about it a different way, on 1st phase attack it's almost 7s (5v5 backs in 10s compared to 4v4 in 7s). Do we see 10s taking it up 1st phase in 7s?

To be honest, if something happens to QC (Quade Cooper) I would prefer they default to Duncan in 15s as well.

Hopefully the need doesn't arise.
He is a good 10/12 option with Taefu/Magnay as backup 12.

Sad about higgers, IMO, with Quade (skillz)& Douglas (muscle), would have the biggest impact to Reds play in game with his running ability.

Smith and Moore to make the biggest difference out of game (mainly at training with standards).

With a Tui, Houston, Smith backrow

Who would you carry on the bench. Hard hitting ex league Timu, backup openside Gunn, or rangey mini higs Korczyke

I am so glad that the rugby gods have seen fit to bestow some charity on the downtrodden Reds.

Blessed be thine Smith and how surely bring'ith hope of a 50/50 record this season even with Quade.

The Brumbies family asks that you keepth our son, the disciple Smith. safe and well while we support him from afar, as always, in his mission of charity to help the needy and less fortunate.

Amen.

Bullshit.

Being charged by a Police officer with assault and obstruct can be a very minor offence.

My understanding (at this stage) is that no contact was made at all. In Qld assault does not necessarily mean hitting or toucjing. Merre wortds are sufficient.

Over zealous coppers use this charge regularly quite often when they are "questioned as to their actions" in arresting the primary offender.

Unless CCTV footage shows otherwise Higgers could probably spend $20,000 hire a top SC, defend the matter, accuse the cops of "malicious prosecution" and win the day
Assault police and obstruct police are the same section of legislation, it does not take much for police to win an obstruct charge in place of assault.

It can be as simple as being asked to leave the premises, being given a warning that he would be arrested if he failed to leave and then if he does not turn around he is charged with assault/obstruct police.

Not many obstruct charges fail, and very few get any penalty other than the court costs

Need to backtrack from the assault charge for a moment and pose a question that puzzles me.

"Why do you get arrested for public urination? Wouldn't a on the spot fine be suffice"

Are our lock ups filled with people urinating in the valley? Are police officers waiting for their commander in chief to turn up to the precint "Look boss, successful night our cells are at capacity"

back alley urinating is a victimless crime. I'd rather cops on the beat rather then a reason to go back to the watchhouse for more donuts.
It is usually a ticket, unless the "pisser" acts like a dickhead and is charged for something else, usually public nuisance or obstruct police, that are also ticketable offences.
