Anyone see the article in the Sunday Mail (wouldn't be surprised if no one did). Article was about how Karl Stefenwhosiewhats )from the Today Show or whatever morning show) was a big player in getting his best mate Jamie Packer to make a play into the Casino opportunity here in Brisbane.

Apparently he keeps talking up QLD any chance he gets to Packer and says that he should start investing in the sports teams too name checking the Reds (and Lions and Roar). That would be an handy chunk of investment for the Reds

I just looked it up and it seemed a bit tongue-in-cheek... but it would make business sense for him. Surely rugby fans are generally a demographic with the kind of disposable income that Packer would be trying to get into his new venture?

Packer just bought Holmes a Court's share of the Bunnies. He is pragmatic in that he is a Easts man at heart.

So, after taking a squiz at Quade's twitter (after reading about his visit to Owen Williams), it seems that he is now managed by some company called Spin and Co. Has he severed ties with Nasser or do this new lot jsut look after his image rights? Anybody got the goss?

So after taking a quick look at Quades twitter to check If he states why he isnt with Khoder Nasser anymore or if he even announced it, the only thing that became clear was what a fantastic guy Quade is. Always willing to chat and take photos with fans, Always Smiling and giving up his time to make other peoples day a little bit better. This is such a different quade than the dirty mullet of 2009.

I suspected his name would come up. Very solid player. Many have been waiting for his chance at the higher level and he got it in the nrc. He played well as part of a very good team. He wouldn't let qld down.

But I maintain Magnay did more in his time, with a lessor team. And thus happy that he has the spot.

100% agree, and I think Toby would be a very reliable center at Super Rugby. But he is never going to break a game open in a way, that Magnay has the potential to do. From a purely physiological point of view - how rare is he? 195cm, but has the footwork and dynamism of a back.

It is a calculated risk that I back 100%.

I also don't think it's beyond the realms of reality, that he could play and contribute in some capacity next year. Eventually his playing weight will be in the Inglis 105-108kg region, which is bloody exciting in itself. The fact that he can actually play footy makes his ceiling output fascinating.

Thats the exact same height as F'Sautia, who also has the footwork and dynamism of a back. I'm not actually against signing him at all, as long as its a development contract not a full contract like was stated. Luckily i dont think it is a full contract as the reds announced hes signed on a contract but havent put him in the main squad or the WTS so i think it is the Thor squad, which i think we should call the Avengers.

Chris Sautia is 1.81m as per the Reds site. No way in the world he is 1.95.

Capbell Magnay is signed to a full contract in the main squad.
I think its a reasonable signing, Reds have lacked physicality in the backline for a few seasons now, Kerevi and CFS are probably the most physical backs so its a bit more depth in that area.

Can you really see the QRU selling a stake in the Reds in the near future, from the outside it would appear to be a fairly convoluted process with the QRU and Reds heavily intertwined, under correct leadership the QRU(grassroots) and the Reds offer a powerful synergy, and at the moment it seems to be working well for them. If they were going to sell a portion of the Reds they would practically need to remove all portions of the Reds business model from the QRU and create its own.

How is Liverpool structured? I think that's the type of model they would aim for. If Packet wanted to invest I reckon they'd look at it fairly seriously.

I'm fairly convinced that for Australian rugby to get on track, gain the big sponsership dollars then the Franchises need to be "privatised" Opens the door for lots of comments but ?????

The Reds have spent the last 3-5 years branding everything with the Reds logo. They are no longer seen as the QRU but as the Reds. If someone were to come in this would have to change. They may opt to go down the NSWRU path of branding all development staff with ARU logos but I doubt it would happen.

Maybe they should look at the Barcelona FC option where the members are the owners. Their membership is well over 100,000.

RE Stefanovic, I'm pretty sure he went to Churchie and has some Rugby in him. It would be fucking awesome if he could get us some exposure
