I detected a bit of a weird vibe from Hynes in the mid-week tour matches last year. For some reason this is making me expect a below-average season from him which will see him be overtaken by young up-and-comers.

Is there any footage of the Reds trial game? Wouldn't mind having a look even if it isn't high quality.

Granted, I didn't see the entire game but the Reds scrum seemed to struggle against the 'Saders...

Which is a concern when the Reds did field a full strength pack...

Suncorp Stadium will be good to go for Rd1 by the sounds of it, the Brisbane Roar will play their first game back there on the 12th Feb

Apparently there will be some temporary(game day) infrastructure behind the scenes, but mostly it should be operational.

I think the 3 matches the Academy team wil play in the Pacific Rugby Cup will be a huge help to the Reds this season. The games are ideally timed for those players left out of the round 1 22 to show why they should've been given a chance and with 3 matches in 9 Days you'd think Link will have a look at all his uninjured squad members and rank them accordingly. Then if there's a few injuries or a loss in form later in the season, he'll have a better idea about who to call up. Would be great if this runs as a curtain raiser comp next season.

For a guy who only managed a handful of Super14 appearances, he has some pretty decent highlights
The Reds are pretty fortunate to have a player of his caliber in the Academy, he has admitted he let things slip when he left Australia to play in Italy, il be interested to see if Link cant get the best out of him again.

It will be interesting.

Beau was pretty valuable to the Tahs when Waugh was out for most of the season - in 2007 IIRR.

I don't know why he was marginalised after the 2008 season. Waugh started every game that year but Beau came off the bench in most of them. Then Link was sacked and Hickey, the new coach, didn't sign him up for 2009, nor 2010. Nor did he contract a specialist back-up for Waugh in either year.

Beau didn't stand out for the Rats so much in 2010 but to be fair he had to play 6 because Lipman had returned to the club.

I wish the lad well. He is fearless, plays above his weight - and it will be good to see anther Oz qualified fetcher playing Super rugby.

A mate of mine watched the cairns match. His comments about the No.7 spot was that young Liam Gill was not intimidated and generally played pretty well with the big boys BUT Beau R was very agressive, hard running and totally uncomprimising - really looked the goods and should be a starter for the Reds at 7.

After watching the footage he seems like the perfect fit into the Reds structure. Happy to run with the ball in hand and link up with the backs and his defence is great for someone of his size. If he plays as well as I think he can then he will have a wonderful season in 2011.

If Houston is playing 8 then they need a jumping option at 6. If they move Higgers to 8 they could carry Beau at 6 but I doubt they would do it as they have so many 6 options it would seem like a waste. In saying that Link might think it could be a good option depending on the opposition.

Yeah, I rate Beau too - from memory, didn't he and Crofty have a bit of go at each other and came up honours even. As a Reds man, I decided then that I didn't like him - probably because he was in a Blue jumper and had some go... now he is in a red jumper I rate him!

Not an uncommon jump.
