I wonder whether Cyclone Yasi will interfere with flights from Brissy to Darwin? If not, the Reds are due in tomorrow afternoon, with a training run to commence shortly after arrival. So a chance to watch them training Ruggo, maybe shortly after 3.30?

It will be interesting to see who gets a run where in this game.

Can do Reg. I will write the article and take a few picks at the game and get you to help me get it posted. :thumb

I am having trouble getting answers out of the QRU as to whether the Reds will have a traing run up here that I can go and check out, do you know anything?

cheers.

Fainga'a Twins tweeted a few hours ago that they're going straight to the captain's run as soon as they arrive in Darwin.

Looks like the Reds have donated some space to Oxfam on the Away jersey.

I wonder if this a continuation of the "Goats for Africa" campaign from last season.

I don't understand - are they deliberately trying to make the jerseys look shit! If they kept the white dragon on that jersey it would look 1000x better.

Or did someone at Kooga simply fuck up and put the wrong st george logos on the wrong jerseys?

The side from Fullback is Ben Lucas, Rod Davies, Will Chambers, Ben Tapuai, Digby Ioane, Quade Cooper, Will Genia (VC), Leroy Houston, Ed Quirk, James Horwill (C), Van Humphries, Radike Samo, James Slipper, Saia Fainga'a, Ben Daley.

The reserves in alphabetical order are: Liam Gill, James Hanson, Mike Harris, Scott Higginbotham, Greg Holmes, Luke Morahan, Ian Prior, Beau Robinson, Jake Schatz, Guy Shepherdson, Dom Shipperley, Rob Simmons and Aidan Toua.

Oldest locks ever?

Funny that Link has chosen Horwill @ 6 and Samo at lock I thought it would have been the other way around. Last year I shit canned Link for this selection but how wrong I was Horwill had a blinder.

Do you think Link sees his lock combo as Van and Simmons with Horwill at 6? Link may want to field a big back 5 with our front row being relatively lightweights.

I am fairly sure that we will see big Kev in the row come first round with link testing Radike's ability to play 6 and lock for the bench role, however the rest of the make-up of our 22 has me baffled. I was thinking that with Benny Lucas being the back up 9, and our depth in the prop/lock position that we might look at 5-2 split most weeks? which would be an unusual position for an Australian side, as it is a very south african tactic. Even if we were to do this quality players like Mike Harris, Ben Tapuai and perhaps Rod Davies / Luke Morahan would regularly miss out.

My 22 for round 1 would be

1. Daley
2. Finger
3. Slipper
4. Horwill
5. Simmonds
6. Higginbotham
7. Beau Robinson
8. Leroy Houston / Jake Shatz
9. Genius
10. QC (Quade Cooper)
11. Digby
12. Finger (injury allowing)
13. Chambers
14. Morahan
15. Peter Hynes

16. Hanson
17. Greg Holmes
18. Radike Samo
19. Liam Gill
20. Ben Lucas
21. Mike Harris
22. Rodney Davies

I realise that this is quite tough on Van the Man, but I am not sure how we can put him on the bench without making it unbalanced. Tough ask, however this means that we have good depth and we haven't been able to say that in a long time.
