i was eager to see how Blair would turn out in the long term, however he needs a few more years of physical development before his up to the S14 standard

Understandable really. Seems to be a long way down the pecking order for the Reds and I'd never heard of any other Super 14 club making a play for him. Always a shame to see a young guy with talent head overseas (particularly at such a young age), but fair enough.

a particular shame consisdering the Rebels. Aren't we meant to be trying to keep talent in the country?

And Sunnybank's Oli Avie is off to France as well. I thought he might have been a chance with the Rebels. Has some family connections down there.

Confirmed? Damn shame.

He is certainly what one would call "Victorian". He played a fair bit of rugby down here as a junior and was also raised here.

The Rebels are putting together a great squad but I think there privet ownership model is resulting in them heiring less Victorians than what would be ideal. Hopefully the academy will be chock full of them.

Reckon you're in with a chance? ;)

Playing rugby in France as a 20-21 year old would be the dream! Especially if you were never going to crack the Reds starting team.

He did start a couple of times last year didn't he?

I doubt this will be a good career move due to it being not a Top 14 team. I doubt we will hear from him again.

Best of luck to him though.

Any plans for a t-shirt at the end of the season? Front cover on the front and the book open on the back. I would happily hand over some coin for one.

Sunnybank coach Rob Nowlan was glowing in his assessment of 17-year-old Gill, who earlier this week was announced as one of four Academy players to be upgraded to a full-time QR Reds contract from next season.

“He is the most accurate number seven I’ve ever coached and I’ve coached (Brisbane Broncos backrower) Lagi Setu and (Wallaby) David Pocock,” Nowlan said.

“He is so accurate at the breakdown and he normally gets the ball nine times out of 10.”

That's sounds incredibly promising but I don't really know what he means when he says he's "accurate" at the breakdown?
