Blows my mind that the Brumbies are considered on the chop. They've consistently been one of the more successful side in the comp.

As Harold Mitchell once said, you don't buy into a Rugby Club to make money. I think this was on the day he handed back control of the Rebels to the ARU.

I agree, but by the same token, while I admit the Rebels were terrible in the first two rounds, it would seem a lot of people are basing that as a reason to drop them - after two bad games. Forgetting they beat the Reds and Force in 2016. Certainly a season of crap results would make the future bleak, but 2 games?

Consistency is not a factor, money talks and Canberra offers none of it.

1) While the team is good they still only attract 10-15k crowds,
2) The stadium is rubbish and cant host night games at the end of the season. 3) Getting to Canberra is costly and has no direct flights from NZ.

Take those points with the fact that there is already 3 teams in that time slot for the tv deal and it's easy to see why they are on the chopping block. When you look at Canberra the Brumbies have done an amazing job to last this long.

Don't think the Brumbies are that much of a surprise from an economic and grassroot development potential perspective. However I doubt they will go even though the force have far more homegrown players then the brumbies and have potential to grow as a franchise.

Rebels are struggling but purely on potential, which is what a forward thinking, long term decision has to be made on (not past results or sentiment) it would be verrrrry surprising if they were even being mentioned as being cut behind closed doors at the top levels.

The Brumbies have lasted this long because they were the 3rd Aussie team and had the relative luxury of having more talent available at the time and thrived in the late 90s / early 2000s Australian Rugby "glory years".

I don't want any team to go. It'd be a very sad day if someone like the Brumbies did go, however their exclusion if one did have to go would be the easiest to appease.

I'd like to see the Rebels take a game there each year if the Brumbies were no more also a guarantee of one Wallabies game a year to be played. Let's hope a situation like this doesn't have to arise tho.

1) Similar crowd sizes as the Rebels
2) What? Of course it can
3) Incorrect - there are direct flight between Canberra and Wellington
