Queensland Reds 2025

I dunno Dru, I absolutely hate having to go to a game of rugby in February. Being crammed in those seats with no air movement and PT in summer just doesn't make for an enjoyable experience.

The only gripe I have with the festivals is, it means playing the same team/s we already play twice in a year. So as a fan, I have no desire to be engaged with those festivals (as a city dweller, there's no appeal to travel and watch).

I think the festivals have a place and ultimately, I could easily see them being a great way to elongate the season through say running a 10's festival after Super rugby has finished.

Ah well. I loved the Roma rugby festival thing.

FWIW I bumped into a Red in our gym this morning "knocking off some cobwebs" after the 34 hour flight home. Yikes! Sounds like the squad had an awesome tour which is great. Apparently LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) was doing a fair bit of seat hopping on the various flights. Ireland-London; London-Singapore (from recollection) and the final leg.

Time to gear up for the season proper, bring it on!

Look, I'm pleased for that. Still one thing I really loved was the pre-season fan engagement to see how the squad was shaping and with some easy access local content. Narrabri is not as easy for me as Roma, but I will try to squeeze it in.

Goldsbrough looks the real deal physically and the Reds hopefully have a long term Centre in the Club and not a Magnay repeat.

Gibbs is an interesting signing. Let Creighton go but then sign a similar player. Can imagine Creighton wanted the chance to continue the career and Gibbs was itching for any opportunity in a pro environment. Would be 25 or so.
Solid lump of a lad, but i think he is well down the pecking order at the moment, still young and learning. Still eligible for U20s again this year as well I think.

Yeah would be a soft entrance for him, I’ll be interested to see where he ranks against Will McCulloch

I haven’t travelled long distance for a while - are there even 50 odd seats in business?
If Dru's intel is on the money, sounds like they flew Qantas.

A380 to SIN is no drama - 14 First, 70 Business, 60 Premium Econ seats. Tough leg would be SIN to BNE on the A330, which only has ~27 Business and no Premium Econ.

It's a good thing we didn't send someone with a bit of marketing potential and cut through, no one else would've got a look in ;)

Might be just me and my settings, but can't see the Twitter posts when they're just linked via URL unless you click and follow it.. which I don't really like doing

Yeah not just you unfortunately. Elongated Muskrat has really clamped down on ensuring as traffic/engagement comes through as possible.

Probably a conversation for elsewhere, but a lot of other forums (incl. a heap of subreddits) have moved away from sharing X posts for this reason, among others, over the last few weeks.

Yeah, I usually dump screenshots in alongside the link to bypass this, it just doesn't work as well for video.

I'm hopefully we see more of a jump over to bluesky across this season - a lot of the rugby accounts I follow started making the move during the EOYT, but it has regressed a bit since

Narrabri a good time if you can make it down. Also being in September will make it 1000000% more comfortable than it's usual early feb time slot

I think if you look at that game with a view to the wild knights games around that time of the season it will provide experience to the wider squad

Also based on my friends' comments Narrabri is an excellent weekend

Ulster have done up a short highlights from the game for those who didn't pay to watch the stream.

They went a bit overboard with the slow motion though

As long as there's no concern about clotting, it's a perfect opportunity to help with recovery If you put him in business class.

Elevation and immobislation is perfect for serious injury. Keep it iced and pain managed.

Any discomfort is short term and you would imagine preferable than being stuck in a hotel/hospital by yourself + a support person rather than being at home around family.
I hope we still aren’t using ice in rugby - that myth is busted. The inflammation is part of the healing process - restricting it increases the recovery time.
