With regards to Aubrey it is a shame he’s moving on being only 21 and looking like he was starting to develop the type of strength and power that would really help him as a senior pro.

But unfortunately for him Ryan has jumped in front of him plus the Reds picked up Anderson & Daugunu. He would’ve been handy for depth but I can’t see him being a regular pick unless there are injuries. You can’t blame him (or the Reds IMO) for him looking elsewhere.

He's signed for one year, perhaps one or both of Anderson look to move on at the end of 2025, in which case there's probably room for him for 2026? I'd imagine joining a Queensland Cup side is just him looking for a paid gig considering he wasn't picked up for the Reds?

This is the classic reason why the Reds Rugby needs to suppport the Hospital Cup to become a third tier of professional rugby ie have players paid at least to the same level as the League Q Cup.

Jude Gibbs the big surprise there:
Prop King, 19, fullback-winger McCulloch, 20, and Jude Gibbs, a 23-year-old utility back recruited from Sydney’s Northern Suburbs club, are the three faces in the squad yet to make debuts for the Reds.

Kiss said the Reds had been tracking Gibbs’ form in the Shute Shield competition.

“Jude has played finals with Norths for the past two seasons in Sydney. He is a versatile player capable of playing flyhalf, inside centre and fullback. He has a great kicking game and is an impeccable goalkicker,” Kiss said.

Oh wow, I completely missed that one. I bit surprised none of Heremaia Murray, Mosese Dawai, Lebron Naea or Lukas Ripley were picked up to round out the size in the backs but Gibbs is definitely better coverage given the rest of the squad. I do woner if we might see Goldsborough given a bit of time on the wing as a way to bring him on a bit earlier.
