1. TV Rights - make a product that can be sold
2. Sponsors - rattle the can in the so called rugby heartland of the "big End of Town".
3. Pokies - Sunnybank took them in years ago and became flush - now the others need to at least look at the option.
4. Off farm businesses - look for cash flow from non traditional avenues - ie clubs can own business outside rugby.
5. Game day revenue - gate (Sydney is $20 admission), drinks and food sales.
6. Club memberships - some have them and some don't but all have a huge number of past players and supporters who might be happy to stay engaged.

Time to think outside the square
The irony here is wonderful

I'd suggest every one of those items is well 'within the square' but has failed to materialise in any significant commercial uplift for a variety of reasons.. Even Sunnybank and the pokies is a double-edged sword, especially now that the rugby club have lost the balance of power in how funds are distributed ....Anyway, this is not a thread to discuss how the QPR should improve the commercial output of the competition

Anyone know anything about Gibbs?
Joeys 1st XV - 2019, won the premiership that year. Might be repeating what Kiss said, but his positional field and place kicking are insane. Not that big of a player but decently skillful. Does all the basics really well. Not sure if you'd say he has X-factor, but hes steady and has the occasional moment of brilliance.

They'd love him in the NH.

With Vunivalu and Petaia gone…. Reds backline is looking pretty small, from centres through to outside backs there’s not much mass amongst them. Only players above 100kg might be Frankie Goldsbrough, rest struggle to crack 90kg

edit: and Lachie Anderson

Casting my mind across all Australian teams and even looking St the Wallabies, there isn't much mass locally.

But between Henry (if he stays fit), Frankie, Hunter, Flipio, Jock and Anderson I think there's enough size there to be strong in contact. Hopefully we'll see Dre fill out more over the next 12 months as he definitely plays like someone who weighs 100kg!

Any rugby statisticians up for a Friday project?

Vunivalu leaves with 16 tries in 39 caps - this strike rate would have to be up there with the Reds' (and maybe even Aus') most tryingest players, no?

To keep it fair, it probably needs to only consider players with greater than 20 appearances at least (The Junkyard Dog rule - sitting on 9 tries in 9 matches)

I wish it were easier to find stats for this - there's a lot for points scored, but guys like Brendan Moon (QLD all time top try scorer) were kickers as well so you can't work backwards.

Yes, it unreasonably irks me that RA/Super don't have a publicly-accessible stats repository / data dashboard with both current and historical data like this. I'm sure it would exist in some capacity internally, but having it available to the nerds seems like it would be a win for engagement.

Heremaia Murray has signed on:

Guessing they might have had to finalise Vunivalu's release first.

I don't mind him as an option, particularly if he's come in cheaply which I imagine he must have, but it does make me a little annoyed we didn't get Nathan Lawson instead. Might have been just a bit too expensive though.

Not sold on this one…
Especially while you have Aussie qualified guys like Ripley and Vaihu without a contract.
